Nice response. If my mouth operated quicker than my brain, which it often does, I'd probably risk a PG13 rating.
This was my first reaction too. My response to the individual would likely have been quite different. Depending on my mood at the time I may or may not have been polite.
In the absence of knowledge or faith there is always hope.

Yeah, we have known him for more than a decade and he lives pretty close to us. Really nice guy, all things considered.

I think I am pretty used to LDS church leaders and members acting like I have a responsibility to support and serve the church. I just shrug it off.
