Re: Beating the priesthood drum

Ray, Agreed on the wording. They way I worded my last comment, would probably get a high number of Orthodox LDS who agreed, but if re-worded to convey my doubt about the absolute necessity of the ordinances (or at least a belief that if needed folks can get them later), would probably get a low resp...

Re: Beating the priesthood drum

Per this discussion forum is my view on the opportunity of post-mortal life progression or the idea of a more inclusive gospel a minority view?
Just curious...

Re: Beating the priesthood drum

Anyway, he wasn't pointing that at you in any way, and it wasn't criticism. Really, it's cool. Yeah, I'm good! My reply probably sounded much more defensive in print than I meant it to be. If you knew me in person, you would know I was joking back. I do not get offended very easily so fee...

Re: Beating the priesthood drum

If there is one path to it all, as a father I would give my kids an infinite number of opportunities to get there. That's why I don't believe this life is the only chance we have... That could qualify as apostasy and teaching false doctrine. And the faithful have scripture and prophetic quotes to b...

Re: Beating the priesthood drum

There has been a lot of focus recently on Priesthood, but also ancillary topics that seem like a response to what is going on such as Obedience and the necessity of Ordinances. Our 5th Sunday lesson (today) was supposed to be about Social Media but we spent most of the time talking about Ordinances....

Re: Missionary Work

Had posted this on another thread but someone linked to this thread and I think this is a better space to hash out some other thoughts I have about this: My other post: "I don't know if this will take the discussion to far from the original topic, but what are folks on this sites views of missionary...

Re: Missionaries are commodities?

I don't know if this will take the discussion to far from the original topic, but what are folks on this sites views of missionary work after a FC? I have never been very comfortable with missionary work, I worked hard as a missionary, but wasn't "successful" from a # of baptisms perspective probabl...

Re: I Reject the "Abrahamic Test"

Ray, Great comments! So up until a few weeks ago I didn't feel the freedom to say to myself that the story of Abraham might only be metaphorical. Whenever I heard that we would have to face our own Abrahamic test I would always think "I'm screwed, my faith is not that strong". I was kind of asking m...
