New Reading Material Or Podcasts
I have a question: What would be some good books or podcasts about spirituality other than standard works of the church? I don't mind studying them. Since I've been practicing meditation for some time now, I've been getting alot out of the standard works, but I need some more variety. Does anybody h...

Re: NAACP, the Church, and modern race relations
I'm not sure this would really accomplish anything. Hardly anybody in the Church would actually admit to "harboring racist views." They'd tell themselves that as long as they disagree with lynching or Jim Crow laws, they were open-minded and non-discriminatory. Besides, I really lean towards having...

Re: New Announcement from Church HQ (missionary apparel)
Thanks, MM, for sharing that. I'm glad to see the leadership is starting to become more lenient in this way, even if it be happening a bit slow. I agree with Nibbler said: Progress is progress.

Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus 1991
I know this is a little late, and it's getting closer to the new year, but I just wanted to mention that on Christmas day I saw a highly underrated Christmas movie made for TV called Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus. It starred Charles Bronson, who is normally known for playing tough-guy roles ...

Re: My Revised Understanding of The Second Comforter
Well, when a person knows another person, I mean really knows that person, he/she doesn't just know about he/she. They really know that person on a personal level, just like when a person really knows their close family members of best friends. Does that mean that he/she automatically knows everythi...

Re: My Revised Understanding of The Second Comforter
Since you mentioned visions, Curt, I think that's how people are describing their experiences with the Second Comforter. They describe it like a vision. Anyway, all of you have a merry Christmas.

Re: My Revised Understanding of The Second Comforter
Okay, I get what you're saying now. I appreciate that. Maybe studying the experiences about the people claiming to have experienced the Second Comforter has made me a bit biased, which I believe many of those people that have experienced have become. But then again, as Roy pointed, everyone has thei...

Re: My Revised Understanding of The Second Comforter
Curt, I agree with you. I'm not trying to refer people to that. I agree it's not always not always been the standard in Mormon history. I don't understand what you mean by it not being the standard in the scriptures. I can think of a handful of prophets or people in the scriptures that have had this...

Re: My Revised Understanding of The Second Comforter
Thank you, very much, Roy, for your comment. I always enjoy your and Curt's comments. You two say a lot of things in ways I've never thought of before. Bruce R. McConkie did make a lot comments in his book that made it seem like it represented Mormon doctrine when they really different. For example,...
