Re: President Hinkley interview on Larry King Live circa 1998

Here is a link to a post I wrote here years ago about the interview and the couplet. There is a good discussion throughout the thread:

Re: President Hinkley interview on Larry King Live circa 1998

Fwiw, the couplet response has been badly misrepresented over time. He didn't actually say what many people claim he said.

Re: Utah Area Presidency asks members to wear masks

I had a friend respond with, "When the First Presidency says it, I will do it." I pointed out that the FP and Q12 have done much more than say it. They closed all churches and temples early, then they established tiered waves to reopen based on local spread and requiring precautionary measures. I po...

Re: Is Sacrament Meeting being held anywhere but Utah?

Due to my current work situation, I have two home wards, in practical terms. Both are holding meetings, with the same general guidelines, but there are a few differences. Ironically, the one with the seemingly more traditional Bishop is taking a more careful approach (which is not to say the other o...

Re: Challenging discussion

I am SO happy we have been here for you, Gerald - and that you have been here for us.

May there be a road, even if it is less traveled.

Re: The God of this world

For some, it is a specific person, often a religious or political leader - someone who represents an absent God. For others, it i...

I personally take that as broader than the mortal attendees, since we do the work for every person who has, does, ...

He is an unorthodox member with fascinating views of multiple issues.

I love what I have read of him and his writings.

Re: Is Sacrament Meeting being held anywhere but Utah?

My ward has started - with very strict rules and only 45 minute Sacrament meetings. Recorded music is being played, with no singing.

Sunday School is being held online.

Due largely to my job, I won't be attending. Extreme care is mandated for us.

Anything by Chieko Okazaki. (especially "Lighten Up!")

She was one of my favorite general authorities, and her writings are wonderfully focused on spirituality.
