Re: Richard Bushman interview

"My line is that you don't read the scriptures, the scriptures read you. Stated differently, scriptures are less about revealing universal truth and more about revealing your nature as evidenced through your interpretation of and reaction to said scriptures."

Re: Richard Bushman interview

I love the things you excerpted here. I have some different views in some of the fine points, I assume, but nearly all of what you quoted resonates with me.

Re: Radical Orthodoxy

I have varying levels of experience / interaction with seven of the signatories, with extensive interaction with one in particular (whom I like and admire very much).

I can sympathize with much of what they have written, but I could not sign it.

Re: Life's Ups & Downs

I am more analytical by nature than emotional, so I am able to accept a modified version of Buddhism's radical acceptance. ("It is what it is," with a healthy does of, "I only can change what I can change, so I will try to change what I want to change but not condemn myself if I can't change everyth...

I think they are a complete waste of time in my situation. You can check the full-tithe payer box. I will tell you if that ever changes...

Re: Pope endorses same sex civil unions

God, No. Our prophets? Yes and No, depending on the issues. "The incorrect traditions of their fathers" is not confined only to "others". It is the central reason the Restoration needs to be on-going, based on "further light and knowledge". Ancient Israel, Jews, Christians, and Mormons never have ha...

Re: StayLDS Version of the Give Thanks Media Campaign

[Admin Note]: This is not the place for objections to any examples of thanks, and the original examples only were posted to show examples of heterodox thanks. They were not included to say or imply they are good or bad. Again, this is a thread for thanks only, not objections to other people's expres...

Re: StayLDS Version of the Give Thanks Media Campaign

I am thankful for my upbringing - and for experiences that expanded my understanding and allowed me to grow beyond that upbringing, including experiences that allowed me to leave behind elements of that upbringing that no longer were appropriate for each stage of my life.
