Re: What happened to Mormon Sunday School?

Looks like it's back up again. I hate when my favorite sites disappear for several days without leaving a note :(

Harper Collins Study Bible...Thoughts?

I'm interested in buying the most recent edition of the HC Study Bible to help in lesson prep/personal study. I am told it has the most recent scholarship and resources, but is also hard to read d/t small font and narrow margins. I won't have a chance to browse through one before purchasing so I won...

Re: EQ lesson next week, Dallan H. Oaks

Thanks for all the great wisdom. The day after I wrote my lesson, I struggled immensely with the subject. I wanted to not make it about just gay marriage. But in my mind, the talk is single-mindedly a reminder to all who accept or ally with gay marriage that they are moral cowards and in need of for...

What happened to Mormon Sunday School?

For the last several days I haven't been able to find Jared Andersen's Engaging Gospel Doctrine website. The page isn't there anymore. Does anybody know what's going on? Under construction perhaps? I've really been wanting to use some of his resources.

Re: EQ lesson next week, Dallan H. Oaks

Ray, do you have experience with this? I don't want to get into a debate about gay marriage, I just think the issue of accepting gays is a small way to help balance a lesson that states only the church's position on gay marriage and warns people to obey God first.

Re: EQ lesson next week, Dallan H. Oaks

I think when I get to the gay marriage parts, I'm going to show a video from mormonsandgays.org and then ask questions relating to accepting and loving those with ssa. I think there is a misconception that supporting someone who has same sex attraction or acts on those means that we are in some way ...

EQ lesson next week, Dallan H. Oaks

I was just asked to give the TFOT lesson in EQ next week, which is a recent conference address by Elder Oaks entitled "No other gods." I had a very hard time with that talk when it was delivered live. While there is much to digest in the talk, there is a large emphasis on defending traditional marri...

Re: Race and The Priesthood

Just wanted to add my satisfaction to the list of those who have already done so. I am so glad the church put this piece on their site. This came out, like a day after I talked w/ my brother on the phone, who was trying to "rescue" my wayward testimony. He believes in the curse of Cain. I had no ide...

Re: Becoming Better Saints through Interfaith Involvement

This thread reminded me of something that came to my attention last Sunday. During priesthood meeting announcements a man stood up and declared that he was the stake PR representative and was working with other churches via service projects etc. I thought it was good we had an organized focus on suc...

Re: Do you pay tithing?

Yes, and that's exactly my point. My family situation is very similar to yours, we are have what we need, no debt other than the mortgage, but our cars are both in the 120,000 - 130,000 range. The people across the street are also similar, non-member, non tithe paying. Are we blessed by paying tith...
