Re: Polyandry question
If the prophet implemented that policy today, my wife would probably accept it because she adheres to the "follow the prophet" mantra.

Re: Polyandry question
In my opinion, the church leaders skirted around the issue by implementing the Husband Upgrade Policy, which stated that: - a woman could leave her husband and marry someone higher in the priesthood without any consequence or question... I talked to my wife about that policy and she is okay with it...

Re: Lehi's daughters
Assuming the Book of Mormon really is a historical record, I think the issue is that females just didn't matter very much. It's a very sad thing to me. It causes great doubt in my mind regarding prophets. If God and angels really communicated with them, they should have said, "Hey, pay more attentio...

Re: Polygamy "Doctrine" in Institute - Fall 2015
I can't believe that these men who claim to speak with God, receive revelations and be successors of JS (with the same keys) don't know the answers to these questions. When was the last time you heard that claim, in the most literal sense, from one of them personally? How many times is that claim m...

Re: Polygamy "Doctrine" in Institute - Fall 2015
I used to think earlier in my life that polygamy was a test for the saints. I just can't accept that anymore.... Yeah, I really dislike the idea that it was a test. I can't imagine God saying, "I need to test my people so I'm going to command them to do totally inappropriate things." I do, however,...

Re: Polygamy "Doctrine" in Institute - Fall 2015
What makes polygamy pricklier than race is 132. The race issue never had a canon version. Sure it was in talks and so on, but not in the bound book of scriptures. I personally think it is the de-canonizing that is causing the thorn to remain. You can disavow uncanonized anything. Green jello, Pione...

Re: Polygamy "Doctrine" in Institute - Fall 2015
There are women in the church who defend polygamy, and it seems to me that they fall into two camps: 1) those disappointed by their first husbands and hoping for an upgrade even as a multiple wife, and 2) those who feel secure in their placement as a first wife. My wife defends polygamy. I think sh...

Re: Meridian Article on Polygamy
Let's consider what President Woodruff said about the law of adoption: When I went before the Lord to know who I should be adopted to (we were then being adopted to prophets and apostles), the Spirit of God said to me, “Have you not a father, who begot you?” “Yes, I have.” “Then why not honor him? W...

Re: Blaming Parents for Wayward Kids
The Church seems to take a "blank slate" philosophy with children (despite all our talk about preordination and preexistence). The idea is that our children are little pitchers that we have only to fill up with gospel principles and church activities to create the fine upstanding members of the Chu...

Re: Who or What Demands Justice?
If the following are true: If God is all powerful. If God can do anything. Then God can forgive sins without the need for an atonement.... Yes, this is a conundrum. Another question is why would God require the suffering of his son? This is actually a popular anti-Christian argument. I've heard it ...
