Re: Is the world getting worse?
I think it depends on what it is. Throughout history the world has always had problems and will until when Christ comes for the earth's 1000-year period. I've noticed some good and some bad more often as I've gotten older, but I'm grateful to be living in the time period that I am. I strive to conce...

Re: Sins that can never be forgiven?
These are good points. The truth is I don't completely disagree with the teaching that denying the Holy Ghost is an unpardonable sin. You probably have to be able to see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to be able to commit the sin. I also remember the Anti-Nephi Lehis of the Book of Mormon being fo...

Sins that can never be forgiven?
Something that has always bugged in the church is the teachings if you commit murder or deny the Holy Ghost, you can't be forgiven for them, even if you believe you've repented. That doesn't make sense. So if you murder or deny the Holy Ghost you can't be forgiven for them even if you are repentant....

Re: Joseph Smith's Definition of Righteousness
That was a great quote. It helps me put into perspective that following our church leaders doesn't mean almost worshiping them, like we tend to do to much in our church.

Re: Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ
I think I understand the point McConkie was trying to make, but (I know I shouldn't say this) it sounds like he was a bit of a jerk at times. Him giving that remark about black men never ever being able to hold the priesthood was crap.

Re: Sermon on Sympathy verses Empathy
I like that alot because I believe sympathy and empathy are two different things. I believe we should try to do both when dealing with people.

Re: Christ bashing the Pharisees:
Actually, SamBee. I forgot about that. Christ and the Pharisees were part of the same religion. Christ had to keep them in line because they were distorting his teachings. Thanks. That made perfect sense.

Re: Too late for me
Charlie, I know how you feel about your struggles with sexual addiction. I deal with them from time to time myself. A therapist outside of the church has helped me get it under control for most of my life. I've also had some serious doubts about the doctrine and history of our church. I'm more like ...
