Re: I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go

Friendship and a sense of belonging is incredibly important to most people. I have found that acceptance is more important than "belief purity" (my own phrase, so if it doesn't work . . . Oh, well. :P ) When the expectation is to attend a specific congregation, that expectation can cause difficultie...

Re: The prophet and coffee

Just a short vent: Our insistence on not using all of the things we accept culturally as being part of the Word of Wisdom as a condition of baptism is one of my strongest pet peeves - especially since those things won't get someone excommunicated. If someone can remain a member while doing something...

Re: Is it possible...

We have an incredible, caring, servant Bishop - and that rubs off on the ward. We are seeing regular baptisms of diverse people.

It is inspiring when the Gospel is the center of the focus and it works.

Re: Is it possible...

I absolutely LOVE what I see as the pure theology. I find it nowhere else in Christianity, at least to the same extent. It is a big reason I can stay active despite the issues I have with doctrinal extrapolations and cultural aspects that leave me shaking my head and, in too many cases, hurting my h...

Re: Under The Banner of Heaven miniseries

I have very little time, so a very short comment:

"Nits make lice," was a statement used explicitly in some of the early anti-Mormon literature, as a justification to oppose Mormon emigration, particularly.

That's all. Carry on. :P

Re: President Nelson breaks record

There are benefits to advanced age, but those benefits disappear at a certain point when the issues begin to increase.

I would be fine if the average age was around 50-60, with retirement as an option or requirement after about 75.

Focus on the fact that I am serving you breakfast in bed . . .

Not how I got into your house.

Re: What Do You Think are the main reasons people leave the LDS church?

To be fair, many religious people do the same thing to non-religious people. It is a human issue, not just or uniquely a religious issue. Broad brushes serve a useful purpose in painting, but they also are the wrong brush when trying to paint fine detail - and the fine detail usually is what makes a...

A View of Faith I Have Come to Love

Over the last few years, I have come to love the idea that "exercising faith" means "choosing how we interpret and act on things based on our hope in the unseen". Phrased differently, we have the ability and the right to interpret things in any way we want that gives us hope - to be agents unto ours...

Re: Am I cursed?

May there be a road.

Also, to echo what others have said, I strongly suggest, if you can, counseling/therapy. Another perspective and help from a trained professional can be a great gift. Not every counselor/therapist will be a good match, but there are good matches out there if we try to find them.
