Basically, help - usually generically, but sometimes specifically.
Most often it is just casting my mind and heart upward and asking to be led and guided to do the right thing and be of help to others. Always a prayer in my heart, so to speak.

Re: Come, Follow Me D&C: 2021 January
I always try to interpret meaning from the literal words and their literal meanings first - and move to figurative meanings only if the literal meanings don't make sense. Therefore, I read "this generation" as literally that generation, especially given the use of the plural in the verse before. (No...

^^This."My line is that you don't read the scriptures, the scriptures read you. Stated differently, scriptures are less about revealing universal truth and more about revealing your nature as evidenced through your interpretation of and reaction to said scriptures."

I love the things you excerpted here. I have some different views in some of the fine points, I assume, but nearly all of what you quoted resonates with me.

I have varying levels of experience / interaction with seven of the signatories, with extensive interaction with one in particular (whom I like and admire very much).

("It is what it is," with a healthy does of, "I only can change what I can change, so I will try to change what I want to change but not condemn myself if I can't change everyth...

Re: Amatonormativity and Temple Marriage
Humans who are in the majority tend to think what works for them works for everyone - so amatonormativity is seen as the ideal in most societies. Add a deep reverence for propagating the species and the societal desire for stability, and heterosexual marriage becomes the societal norm and ideal. It ...

Re: Tithing Settlement during the pandemic
I really like the idea of telling the Bishop (or clerk or secretary): "I have been a full tithe payer all my life, but I really dislike tithing settlement meetings. I think they are a complete waste of time in my situation. You can check the full-tithe payer box. I will tell you if that ever changes...

Re: Pope endorses same sex civil unions
God, No. Our prophets? Yes and No, depending on the issues. "The incorrect traditions of their fathers" is not confined only to "others". It is the central reason the Restoration needs to be on-going, based on "further light and knowledge". Ancient Israel, Jews, Christians, and Mormons never have ha...
