Re: New apostle named
Since I have my spreadsheet out, just for speculation... Assuming everyone in the Q15 lived to 95, this is how it would currently shake out: 2025-2027: DHO 2027-2036: JRH 2036-2047: DAB JRH announced he was on dialysis in the spring of 2023. Google searches don't have good news for the life expectan...

Re: New apostle named
Because my brain is wired like this... Taking days into account, the Q15 went from an average age of 79.33 when RMN died to 76.86 when Causse was called. He shaved a full 2.47 years off the average age of the quorum. Of course losing Nelson at 101 contributed towards that decline as well. By taking ...

Re: New garment style
Amy, The women in all three of your demographics fit neatly into another demographic... they're all adults. You have to be 18 years old to receive the endowment. Adults can and should make their own decisions. Garments shouldn't be another mechanism for infantilizing adults in the church. I saw one ...

Re: The Plan of Salvation
In this stage of my progression, why did we need the pre-existence if everything was going to be forgotten? In my orthodox days I rationalized it by believing that the time during our premortal existence set our natures and dispositions. We forgot everything but the decisions we made in the premort...

Re: Building Janitorial Assignments
Wow, citing temple covenants to shame you into doing what he wanted you to do. Not going to lie, that's pretty bad.
Nice response. If my mouth operated quicker than my brain, which it often does, I'd probably risk a PG13 rating.

Re: The death of President Nelson
Is there anything we can read into the choice of counselors? I'm sure SLC is all "a buzz". I have no idea because I could see it going several directions. Many people see Christofferson as a LGBT+ ally so there's speculation that he was deliberately chosen by Oaks to round out opinions in...

Re: The death of President Nelson
They announced that the next prophet would be a fellow I had never heard of, one "Dallas" Harris Oaks but later changed their minds and presented Dallin Harris Oaks instead. (this was in reference to Elder Stevenson misreading the teleprompter or perhaps the teleprompter having aut...

Re: The death of President Nelson
We'll know in an hour. I'm wondering how much I should attempt to read into his selection of first presidency counselors. For instance, if he calls Bednar the reasoning might be to get Bednar some first presidency experience before he's placed in the role of being president of the church more so tha...

Re: General Conference - October 2025
Calling myself to repentance...
I'm starting to listen to some talks now and they're quite a bit more relevant than they used to be. Granted I've only heard like a third of conference but already I think it's one of the best conferences in recent memory.

Re: General Conference - October 2025
I imagine the talks are highly correlated. I'm betting even the apostles have to submit their talks and are subject to having it edited for doctrinal correctness, liability, etc. I have difficulty relating to most of the stories. I feel similarly. My line is that conference is 10% good talks, 10% ba...
