Re: How to be authentic but not cause a scene
I just want someone to call me Sir. without adding "your making a scene." SD: I really want to work on that skill of being vague in my answer. You gave some really good ways of doing that. I think that will be a key for me in this process. Ann: It helps to hear about someone who is being ...

Re: How to be authentic but not cause a scene
Wow, thanks everyone, I've really appreciated reading the discussion going on. Minyan Man: It is very helpful to read your experience. I think with this being so new to me I worry about it not working out well, but reading how you have been successful gives me some hope for my situation. OnOwnNow: T...

Re: How to be authentic but not cause a scene
Thanks everyone for your responses. I really appreciate your comments. SD: I really liked that idea to be authentic in what I do more than just what I say. That seems to be the way I am dealing with it with my dad, if I don't directly address things with him then he has deniability, but he (likely) ...

How to be authentic but not cause a scene
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've been here (busy with grad school) but I value your views and was hoping to get some ideas on how to move forward in my situation. Background/update: I am agnostic with a TBM husband who knows, 2 kids who don't know, and I live near my parents (mother knows, ...

Re: Experiences with getting ecclesiastical endorsements?
I did mine about a year ago, it was just going through the honor code with the bishop and stake president. My bishop did emphasize one part that to him implied going above and beyond with callings, hinting at wanting me to help clean the church or something. Otherwise it was quick and not very struc...

Re: Same sex marriage considered apostasy
I noticed the wording that explains the exception for a child of a gay parent to be baptized or go on a mission said if they live with a parent who has or currently lives with a gay partner they first have to move out. So the church doesn't believe the atonement applies to gay people. I am so mad at...

Re: Marriage in the next life?
I wouldn't have married without it being a sexual relationship either. I guess I'm of the oposite side from Holland though, I don't think there is inherently something spiritual about sex. Pigs and dogs etc. do it, rapists do it. If someone has a spiritual relationship with their partner then I can ...

Re: Marriage in the next life?
I would hope there is something even better than sex in the afterlife! Really, sex is such a basic animalistic thing, surely a perfect resurrected body can experience even greater things that lift us above the animals.
