Re: Brian Johnston’s passing and help for his family

I'm really sorry Brian did pass away. He seemed like a really nice man through interviews. I don't think this site staylds.com would exist if it wasn't for him.

Re: More Clarification From My Last Post

Thank you, Old-Timer. I appreciate the suggestions. The first suggestion I think is going to work out best. I'm feeling that it's best for me to listen to the LDS podcasts that are nuanced more often than the ones from Bill Reel and John Dehlin. I'm not trying to bash them. I've talked with Bill bef...

More Clarification From My Last Post

Okay, I had emailed my bishop, asking him to be released from my calling as a ward missionary, but he was recently released. Unfortunately, I waited too long to contact him. What I mean is I felt inspired to talk about it a few weeks sooner, but I was too scared about doing it. In fact, I was more s...

Re: Keeping Journals -- What to do with them?

That's one of the challenges of journals. I'd have to go back and read them, but I can almost guarantee that my mission journals no longer reflect my core beliefs. If someone read them they wouldn't have an accurate picture of me (which could be said even if I felt a journal did reflect the real me...

Re: Keeping Journals -- What to do with them?

To be honest, I used to write almost every night in a journal. Not that often now, though. At times, it's also helped me deal with issues with the church. I guess writing out my feelings has sometimes helped.

Re: Getting Released From A Church Calling

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I'll just have to pray about it a little more and see what I feel inspired to do.

Getting Released From A Church Calling

I'm a ward missionary, but with the COVID going on, I haven't been able to do much anyway. Now, most of you here are aware I have issues with the church. I've shared here a few times what they are. The mask and social distancing in my part of the United States are going be relaxing soon, but the bis...

Re: Spiritual direction

Actually, I have a question. How does this differ from most religious communities or spiritual gurus? I'm skimming through the link, but I'm not quite getting it.

Re: Could faith promoting stories be dangerous?

This discussion and makes a lot of sense to me. Since much of church history was white washed in the past, what annoys me now is that many members of the church, even many General Authorities, don't believe a it was wrong to do this. Some people have used the teaching of line upon line, precept upon...
