Re: Ignoring the Pandemic is Our Charter? (Bednar)

I think some members have this idea of “martyrdom,” or suffering/sacrificing in this life for a better afterlife. In the church we always like to talk about the sacrifices of the pioneers. How often do we hear about the great faith and miracles surrounding the handcart pioneers, versus the poor dec...

Re: Ignoring the Pandemic is Our Charter? (Bednar)

This quote comes from the Church Handbook: Seeking Information from Reliable Sources In today’s world, information is easy to access and share. This can be a great blessing for those seeking to be educated and informed. However, many sources of information are unreliable and do not edify. Some sourc...

Re: Bishopric Youth Interviews

Roy, you are a good Father. Well done.

I'm not as sure about your Bishop when he deviates from the "get to know you" interview & starts to
talk to my daughter about pornography. You showed great self control by not interrupting. I'm not
sure I could of done that.

Re: Is StayLDS at its end of life?

I'm beginning to believe that with the pandemic, StayLDS is at the end of it's useful life. We don't go to church. We rarely come in contact with other members. We rarely listen to the virtual services. We do read on our own with little or no gospel discussion. The big thing is: there is not indoctr...

Re: Missionaries in the Time of Pandemic

To put things into perspective, as of today there have been 310,300 US deaths from this virus (in about 9 mos).
During all of WWII, 420,000 US lives were lost (in about 3 yrs). We are at 74% in less time.

Re: Missionaries in the Time of Pandemic

...It was a good reminder to me that these guys are just kids. In that moment, it was never more evident to me that the missionaries probably need us a lot more than we need them right now. They have very little face-to-face personal contact with people, and that's something that a lot of people re...

Excellent. I wish I could attend your RS class. (I'm the wrong gender.)
It sounds like your ward or branch attendance is in person? Our meetings are still "virtual".

Re: Radical Orthodoxy

I hate to admit it but, this is way beyond me.
I've tried to research on line what this is but, it reads like a doctoral thesis.

Re: Tithing Settlement during the pandemic

Did you get a response? Mine said "OK, thanks." 8-) Yes I did. He answered within the hour. He said: Thank you for your note. I'll mark you down as Full Tithe payers. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. I wish the whole process could be improved in some way. Covid or no Covid. T...

Re: Tithing Settlement during the pandemic

I just sent my Bishop an email explaining that we will not be doing the "virtual" tithing settlement this year. I also said that we consider ourselves to be "full tithe" payers. And, if he had further questions, please call us. I've always disliked this process. It almost feels like an IRS audit whe...
