Re: 2019 Curriculum Thoughts

So those people, and others, want to try to make programmize things (and this doesn't only apply to SS/Primary) and make them less simple. Let's not over think or over do this. That is exactly how I am seeing it. The old way was safe and routine. I think over time though people will see how much be...

Re: 2019 Curriculum Thoughts

I also think one of the challenges with the church changes is how to keep some continuity among the membership. As we move toward the church support model we are going to find some gaping holes. For 150 years we have been spoon fed. We have walked and talked the same. This is a great first step to m...

Re: 2019 Curriculum Thoughts - How?

I know it's a stage of life but I am not worried about what happens in my personal study. My kids are adults. I can't really shape them. Years ago, pre faith crisis, I got tired of Mormoning all the time. FHE when I was a kid was much funner than the 90's model of intense scripture lessons and perso...

Re: Announcements - Less of?

Mine, too. More than half the people are in the hall/foyer or chapel. I think SS will be too big to hold in the RS room now so it will have to move to the chapel. I made a joke in my talk today about the two hour block being good because I won't waste that middle hour in the hall anymore. The truth...

Re: Bill Reel about to get excommunicated? >:-(

Sadly, I agree with SD - he crossed the line in much the same way as John Dehlin and even Sam Young. I mean it, it is sad. In the fury of these events, I find myself often supporting the church, which surprises me. Sam's was a bit different but similar. I hurt for Sam more because I think the initi...

Re: Announcements - Less of?

I know I got my wish (finally) with the two hour block, now I'm going for the 1 hour block (30 minute SM, 25 minute other meeting).
I plan to start practicing in January. SM and some hall time, every other week. I don't think I will be alone. SS has been an absentee program in my ward for a while.

Re: Relaxing on the Rules

That or the rules are relaxed if they're visiting "inactives."
Then that makes us the chosen ones.

Re: Relaxing on the Rules

During the 6-9 pm proselyting time the missionaries are not allowed to go to members' homes at all unless they are actively teaching there. Teaching appointments are supposed to be 30 minutes or less (ideally 20 minutes). Rogue missionaries then? I was actually impressed with my husband, he let the...

Re: Relaxing on the Rules

Because it couldn't get any better than this - the Missionaries are standing on my porch right now. No joke. It's just after 7. They may leave with their own CES letter if they aren't careful.

My husband has been very clear - call and make an appointment.

Re: Tithing Settlement

I never get hassled. I get invited. I usually turn it down. They hand me a slip of paper and let it go.
