The fruits of this can be seen in mental health problems ...
I can see an argument for that.

We trade one set of issues for another. Trade-offs.

Re: Joke of the Day

You know you are a middle-way mormon when all of your ex-mo friends insist that you are a believer, and all of your TBM friends insist that you are a non-believer!

Re: 4 Great Posts on the Middle Way

Wonderful discussion and articles. After reading and pondering them I am thinking much about seasons of life. For me - in my current stage of life -fairly active participation in the church seems to be helpful in raising my children. I like much of the structure, the support, the common mile posts ...

Re: Very good post about "what I wish Mormons knew about those that leave"

Also...in reading the Wheat and Tares post ( here ), there was a good point made, #6 on the list of being a "middle way mormon": 6. I used to be where many certain, apologists are and I used to have little patience for them until I came to forgive and love my former self. They are still frustrating ...

Re: Very good post about "what I wish Mormons knew about those that leave"

That broke me, but it also helped me to understand how our words hurt people without knowing their situation. It doesn’t matter how close to someone we are, we never really know until they feel safe enough to let us in. That seems pretty true. That was a really good post. These things are not simpl...

Re: In Defense of the Name Emphasis

OON, I agree that I can see the argument for all those things and can think through the good from trying to rebrand and position for the future. Heck, Dunkin wants to position itself as more about coffee and other things than unhealthy fried donuts, right? It is a strategy often used for good reason...

Re: Evangelical Millenial's at Odds With Their Faith

Dande, do you think it is changing though?

Are people nowadays less brand loyal to a church or to a political party, and more open to choose whatever they feel is best?

Re: Evangelical Millenial's at Odds With Their Faith

Perhaps it goes beyond politics and beyond organized religion, and is a debate on culture and how to address certain problems while maintaining a level of humanity some people want. That is often how I feel at church. While some dig their heels in to protect what they hold dear to them, they often s...

Re: Very good post about "what I wish Mormons knew about those that leave"

They couldn't recognize that it's just how I feel, and instead wanted to belabor each point on why I was wrong. It was frustrating. it is frustrating. It sounds more like they needed to reassure themselves how they feel, forgetting about how you are feeling. So much of church turns into affirmation...

Re: Teaching in Relief Society

Awesome to see how you stay involved. I tend to be pro-active when it comes to church requests - for example, I used to politely tell my home/visiting teachers when they could come over instead of waiting for them to get around to trying to schedule something. I like this approach...helps make it ea...
