Re: Is it worth it raising daughters in the church?

Both my daughters are married to fine priesthood holders that love and support them 100%. Actually one of them is a little bit of a follower and is happy to have found my daughter who makes the decisions in the home for them...they have found their balance for their relationship. Temple recommend ho...

Re: How to Achieve Results in Low Commitment Wards

In leadership, you want to create a pull system, not a push system. Make the product so high quality and treat the employees with such respect, that people ask to be part of it...not convince them they need it. I really like the direction the church is going to minister and love. But it will take ti...

Re: David O McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism

I likes that book. I think he was a strong enough man to be a leader and progressive not for the sake of bucking the trend or draw attention to himself but because it was right and he was ok with being different. Perhaps the light suits he wore and long white hair did say "look at me" perhaps...but ...

Re: Random Thought - What Works For Us

It sounds good. I think if you find ways to show love, however that works for your relationship...it leads to good things. Love doesn't just spontaneously grow...it needs to be cultivated and there needs to be deliberate efforts.

I like it!

I'm wondering where each of you lie:
I like the 2 stage model;
Thoughts come to us freely. Actions go from us willfully.

First chance, then choice. First "free," then "will."

Re: Free agency vs. free agency

Seems like the church has gone to use of the word "Agency" by itself...leaving off the free because it sounds too much like saved by grace...and of course...we like to stress the works and urgency to do works and not procrastinating the day of repentance and need to lengthen your stride and never sl...

Re: Hypothetical situation

This wouldn't change anything in the way I interact with the church or this website. I would continue to attend church, and I would continue to be open about being one of those people who isn't all in, or all out. My relationship with God, and the way I choose to worship, is up to me; not the bisho...

Re: Do You Believe in the Literal Christ?

I've been thinking....

Do you think it matters one way or another? It can be fun to talk about...but day to day life...does it matter?

Re: Thoughts on Being a Dissenter by Jana Reiss

But on this article - I have mixed feelings. I do think the less some people stand up and say, "I don't believe that is doctrine" the greater the chance that the church moves into a much more conservative stance (and probably starts shrinking - at least in the Northern Hemisphere). I dunno...human ...

Re: Thoughts on Being a Dissenter by Jana Reiss

One thing I can honestly say is that I've had exceptional local leaders. Unfortunately I haven't found that the local leaders have much sway in the overall culture of the church. yes, there is that. In some ways...I find that freeing for me...because my mind can see the church isn't this ward, this...
