Re: Looking for like-hearted friends

My thoughts on gay marriage and gays in general have definitely evolved over my years in the church. While I never fully bought that being gay was a choice, I also never fully bought they were born that way. However, having known a few gays (and fewer lesbians) in my life my thinking and point of vi...

Re: To those of you who Lurk but don't post

Our activity rate is way lower than the church's as LH points out. But then we don't go around saying we're the fastest growing LDS forum either (and that's not only because we're not). A little off topic, but come to thin of it I haven't actually heard that fastest growing church line in some time....

Re: Looking for like-hearted friends

Thanks for the intro. It's always nice to know something about each other. I don't have a ton of time, I just wanted to welcome you aboard. Your story is familiar and resonates with many here. It sounds like you're in a good place. Don't be a stranger, new voices and viewpoints are always welcome.

Re: Was I really like that? Yes.

The church would do well to create an open forum for doubters and train the believers to not be dismissive of other people's doubts. Sure, horses and steel in the BoM might not be a big deal to some people, but they are to others. In general the church (as an entity/leadership) fears doubters and T...

Re: New ward, new you?

New ward and new starts are great. You're in a good position to do as you want and set boundaries. I think the thing with your husband being seen as the one "pulling your family away" is kind of an old school traditional view of things because everybody knows women are more spiritual than men. And i...

Re: To those of you who Lurk but don't post

Major lurker here until recently. Very recently. For me, I find I get a lot of valuable information from those who post frequently, but I also love it when new people share their unique perspectives, and it adds much to the discussion. I'm always concerned that some of my posts will come across as ...

You are indeed fortunate to have people you can talk with face to face.

Re: I came out to some friends and I liked it!

I suppose the question from the point of view of this forum is now are they helping you (or are they going to help you) StayLDS?

That's not to say that we are not understanding of those who leave, and even recognize that for some leaving is the best thing. But we do have a purpose here.

Re: If Church's stance on Gays is an Issue for you, how do you Deal with it?

Simple: It's a bad policy from a flawed organization run by flawed people. I don't expect there to be gay sealings, but not labeling them as sinners/apostates and robbing them of their temple recommends wouldn't be too much to ask. The policies have gotten better over the years (mostly), but the th...
