Re: Petition to end private youth interviews?

In my mind I keep coming back to this: What do worthiness interviews of youth accomplish? Could they be dropped altogether? Or, what do worthiness interviews in general accomplish? Adults and youth alike. I didn't grow up with this being a part of my culture or childhood. I defaulted to assuming I w...

Re: Asking to be released...

What's your calling? I think he said it was ward missionary (not to put words in your mouth Beefster). I remember the first time I had that calling. The leaders were very clear and adamant that at least 10 hours be spent on the calling per week and we had to turn in logs of our time. Yeah. I've ask...

Re: Time's Up

All I can say is that I can relate to much of what you've said. I just know where the line of contention is and I don't cross it. At least you've learned not to cross it. ;) I crossed the line the other day. You spoke about keeping the peace and the pressure we're often under to accept callings. As ...

DFU has the assignment of chair of the Correlation Executive Council. Could that have an effect on the overall tone of the church's message?

Re: Petition to end private youth interviews?

I don't like the idea of the meeting being recorded. Blackmail of the interviewee comes to mind. They could put a glass window in the door to the BP's office, though even that has its challenges: 1) People could walk by and see who is in there and their general countenances. 2) It does nothing to he...

Re: Bargaining - FC 5 Stages of Grief

My comment follows LH's comment.

You can't change other people, only yourself. That goes for all walks of life, not just the church.

Just to throw it out there, there are ways to change yourself and stay in the church and there are ways to change yourself and leave.

Re: If the theme for the year is keeping the Sabbath day holy, what are we doing wrong?

Pretty much what has been said. Not attending church enough and not participating in the programs of the church enough. What's ironic is that: 1) They're preaching to the choir. The people that attend church regularly will hear this message the most. 2) The constant focus on this will almost certain...

There's also the deacon's quorum president theory. RMN put his best buds in as his counselors.

Re: On DFU Making it Back to the FP or Becoming Pres

(even though we have a process for SPs or Bishops, so it works on other levels of the church) Could you imagine if we had this process for bishops and stake presidents? The SP is SP for life (or unless they get called up to be an AA or out of desperation they decide to move across the globe ;) ). T...
