Re: Here’s a hypothetical: bishop’s son and pornography confession

Oh wow. That is hard. About the only thing I would suggest if it was my son was that he can't put his finger on it, but he just didn't feel like blessing the sacrament that week. If it were me now, not my 16 year old self, I would just ask the bishop, "have you ever just felt like something wasn't q...

Re: Help on a talk

Thanks for the thoughts. I did just go ahead and email that I would accept.

But if others have additional thoughts, I would welcome more suggestions.

Help on a talk

I still attend for my marriage and have started to (generally) be calmer at church. I had the "feeling" the last month - "It has been a while since I gave a talk, I bet I am coming up on the top of the list." Sure enough, I just was asked to talk. I asked what the topic was and was told, "Deepening ...

Re: Mental Exercise

I would say the bigger issue for me is the reaction of members, especially top leaders, to my doubts. I still do attend, but mainly for my wife's sake. Although I wouldn't say that I have doubts as I feel I have conclusions (which can be wrong and can change). This is pretty close to describing me....

Re: No longer Mormon

We should be Christian, first and foremost and act like it. Amen! I find the banishing of the word "Mormon" a bit hipocritical. If the church wants to tell people, "this is what we want to be called", then they should also respect others when they say, "we are 'gay', not 'struggling with same sex a...

Re: What Does Everyone Here Think of The New Church History Book Called Saints

I would agree that they are opening up on some historical items, but it feels to me to be a bit like the essays - giving up ground that they have already lost. As in they are finally admitting some of the troubling issues that just about every historian agrees upon. I struggle when I hear it as "the...
