Re: Reasons to stay?

Vincent, I feel for you, brother, and I'm right there with you. I don't know if the Church is "true" (whatever that means) and I don't know that it is "untrue." I'm also struggling with reasons to stay and often feel like I'm in a speedo at church drinking a margarita (or something like that) :crazy...

Re: Lost, sad and confused.

I've served and sacrificed all my life. Right now I'm feeling betrayed, let down, confused, sad and angry. I certainly feel this way too, and am struggling to get past this stage in my faith journey. You are not alone. My shelf went on to a full collapse beginning last March after I discovered podc...

Re: Lost, sad and confused.

Vincent, I'm so glad you posted your introduction and I identified with so much of it. I don't "know" anything now and I am hanging on to the things that I hope for and things that are good. Like you, I've tried to share some of my concerns about the Church with my wife, but all it did was scare her...

Re: What's My Line?

Great post, Heber. A lot of thoughtful comments that are very helpful to me. Judging them to be true prophets or false prophets is what it is all about. That is the testimony or faith we work through. Do we trust they bring us knowledge and truth from heaven, or are they wolves in sheep's clothing? ...

Re: What's My Line?

This is a great topic! I must say that I agree more with GBSmith than with Ray or Nibbler, but this may just be where I'm at in my faith journey (stuck mostly in Fowler's stage 4). Maybe Ray and Nibbler have transitioned to stage 5 or 6 and no longer have an issue with a prophet committing serious s...

Re: I Came Out To My Wife

It's taken us a decade to find personal peace with each others decisions. It took a lot of selection to see the good, the hopeful, the bright. We worked on finding what we did have in common. Sometimes that only meant a TV show. But it was a start. From there you add on. We aren't smooth sailing bu...

Re: How did you find out about JS' polygamy?

I believe I first found out about Joseph Smith's polygamy when listening to the Living Scriptures dramatized Church History cassette tapes (probably in the late 70s/early 80s). As I remember it, Joseph was portrayed as very reluctant to practice polygamy, but did it to be obedient. I thought he may ...
