They need a reserve, and money for a rainy day.
If they expect it to rain more than 40 days they should probably think about building an ark instead.

My point is... when does building up against a rainy day transition over to simple hoarding?

Re: Ca$h Money

With closed books it's hard if not impossible to tell. All I can say is that the church is much better off than I am and that the church has much more bills than I do. At one time my line was "opportunity cost." Spending 1.5 billion dollars on a mall means 1.5 billion dollars that doesn't go towards...

Re: New visitors welcome TV commercials

I just watched it after reading your comments felixfabulous. You raise some very good points. It seems like the negative reaction stems from not feeling welcome yourself and it being hypocritical and the claims that coming to the LDS Church would make you a better person than not coming. Is that rig...

Re: New visitors welcome TV commercials

...I dont feel welcome at church... I think one issue is that we conceptualize the 11th article of faith as pointing outward: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what...

Re: Old Wine, Old Skins, Old Everything - 5th Sunday

Even with the warning, some dweeb felt it necessary to chastise anyone for mocking or hinting at dismissing the video. "The church made it, we need to honor it." I know that if I were inactive I'd show up for some of that "guy who judges me for not being fake" action. You're in a tough spot mom3. T...

Re: Women and Priesthood

Surely, if our eventual exaltation is Their essential goal and purpose, and if They are omniscient and perfect, then They understand best how to prepare, teach, and lead us so that we have the greatest chance to qualify for exaltation... Surely we must agree that our Heavenly Father and His Son kno...

Re: Missionary Payment going up

I think this pricing history is correct, feel free to correct: Pre-1990: Missionaries paid the actual expenses of their mission. Get called to a mission in a third world country, pay relatively little. Get called to Tokyo or London, pay a lot. November 1990: Church announces a new system that equali...

Re: FM Changes

FM Changes What are the Free Masons up to now? If you want to get out of doing the dishes 'accidentally' break some plates. When untrained amateurs begin to ruin things that costs $texas to fix or replace maybe we'll start to rethink our approach. Or worse still, enough people get electrocuted or fa...

Re: Just a couple of thoughts...

1. The church seems to have the requirement that asks the membership to conform. Conform to doctrine, beliefs, dress, etc. 2. Don't ask a lot of questions. If you do, you run the risk of exclusion. Not being accepted, validated & excluded from callings. What's interesting to me is these things coex...
