Re: And the fruits of coffee are . . .

I have it on good authority that they'll be announcing something that you may love during the October '19 general conference.

Look for it right after the announcement that tells all those extremely patient missionaries how long their mission will be.

Re: Misquoting Scripture w/o Context

How about: Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. It's not always a bad thing. I mean... how else is one to read the scriptures but through their lens? Do we read the scriptures or do the scriptures read us? If you want to find a ...

Re: Prophetic Flaws in Scripture

I hope this isn't going too off topic, but why does Christ need to be perfect? Why does HF need to be perfect? And why do we need to aspire to be perfect? I've found more power in the stories told in the gospels by viewing Jesus as a regular, everyday Joe that woke up to his divine nature. A divine...

Re: Church video for SS lesson

The video reminds me of a phenomenon I see in the wider political climate in the USA. Everyone is tired of all of the divisiveness going around but what I've observed is that people are generally blind to how their side is being divisive and are mostly only sensitive to divisiveness expressed by the...

Re: Prophetic Flaws in Scripture

The thread title made me think the tread was going to be about how the authors of the scriptures were flawed so it stands to reason that the scriptures themselves are flawed. You took it in a different direction. It was a nice surprise. Jesus as a child. While I do not believe He ever sinned, I do t...

Re: Church video for SS lesson

It's an interesting video that I feel shows both sides of an ugly coin. I find the video ironic in that the video is clearly designed to make me empathize with the church member that is attacked for their beliefs but the way that they caricaturize the person expressing the opposing view feels like a...

Re: Face Palm Sunday . . .

We're getting better, but I think not scheduling stake conferences on Easter would be a good start. That's tough because Easter often falls on general conference weekend (which IMO is worse than doing stake conference on Easter) and that's dictated by about 150 years of tradition and maybe some loo...

Re: Collateral Damage

I just struggle sometimes with how to react when people act like I just kicked their favorite pet testimony-wise. Isn't that church (or any community really) in a nutshell? Learning to get along in spite of people acting like their pet testimony was kicked and in spite of others kicking our pet tes...
