Re: Prophets rule the roost

I don't buy into this line of thinking but it does make one wonder, how does god take care of the church?

Does god inspire the current leader of the church or does god play whack-a-mole until the person with the right inspiration is last man standing?

Or the Old El Paso approach, por qué no los dos?

Prophets rule the roost

Sorry for the thread title, I didn't know what else to call this thread but I wanted to put together some ideas that were floating around in to separate threads without thread jacking either thread. First the quotes: Here's the thing. The Church's STATED reason for the string of recent changes, I st...

Re: Ending Pageants

I have mixed feelings. I'd be the last person to want to attend a pageant but at the same time this feels like a loss. I hear people reminisce about the good old days of road shows, baseball leagues, etc. They usually reminisce about those things while lamenting that they feel that with each passing...

Re: The ministering interview numbers are in

They are important not because of the stat generated but because it is the way we find out what the needs of the members are. This is where I get lost. If a family has a genuine need their minister shouldn't wait until an interview to relay the need up the chain. It feels like the interview exists ...

Re: New Sunday Worship

For me - I wish the Sacrament time was longer. The only issue I have there is that when my kids were younger I learned a lot of wrestling holds in an effort to keep them still during sacrament. It was tough. They were raw kinetic energy wearing a convincing human disguise. Other churches chapels ar...

Re: New Sunday Worship

Random thought time. Sacrament could be towards the beginning of the meeting so the bishopric can adjust the time on the back end to ensure the meeting ends on time. Like if there were a baby blessing and there were 50 more people visiting so passing the sacrament took more time. Or it's a three day...

My suggestion is that when these women reappear on social media, read their posts for a day without commenting and the next day post, "Sorry gals, I'm just getting back now, because my fast went up to 11."
Your jib. The cut of it. I like it.

Re: Two Hour Church

I get many of the reasons why we moved to the block program, and now the reduced version, but we killed something vital. I think "gospel purpose" crept in and took over. People forgot that community building and socializing even without any other ulterior motive at all serves a gospel purpose. Just...
