Gone to a Better Place
I've be getting on here a few times a week for awhile, but I haven't been posting because my life has been turned upside down recently. I'm still trying to navigate it and coming here has helped me immensly. I feel ready now to post my exerience. My father passed away about a month ago. He had a ter...

Re: When is Faith, Fraud?
I think there are more deep thinkers out there than we realize. Before my FC, I was just too afraid to admit to my deep thoughts. They scared me and made me think that satan was making me think them. They made me feel like I had weak faith. Now I realize many, if not most, people have these same kin...

Re: Things MUST be changing.
First of all, I disagree there are "false premises", but more often, false interpretations and perpetuation of incorrect premises. I hope I don't sound anti-Mormon here -- I'm not trying to be. But I find it hard to believe in the idea JS was a prophet when he engaged in practices that were very an...

Re: Possible Model of LDS Church Phases of Commitment
Maybe "phases" would be a better descriptor than "stages." it seems more fluid in my mind. Either way, I've been at this for a very long time. For a while, I was in stage 5 - re-engagement. Then some things that sent me right back to stage 2. I'm firmly ensconced in stage 3. Your definition is spot ...

Re: How to Minister to those with doubts
As I've been reading through this thread, I keep wondering if there's a way to create something similar to the 12 step recovery groups that the church has, but for those who doubt. Those are very confidential and there is no expected/required outcome. I've known people who have attended those, and n...

Re: Ordain Women Activists Admitted to Priesthood Meeting
Kate Kelly could have attended in her area, and maybe she did. I hope so. I'm sure that within 5-10 years, women attending PH GC sessions will become accepted and no big deal. I don't see that changing anything else much as far as women in the church are concerned. There will always be a line in the...

Re: October 2014 General Conference
I did like the talks about Jesus and caring for the poor. Wish that's all we talked about int he church.

Re: October 2014 General Conference
Feeling the same way Nibbler. I was so hoping for a kinder gentler conference. Instead, I feel it's clearer than ever that there's no place for the island of misfit toys in the church. Very sad time for me.
