Re: Within ward boundaries of divorced spouse.

We've had a couple in our ward in the same situation, with 1 daughter who was 7 at the time. Wife #1 couldn't afford to move. She just stopped coming for awhile. The ex-husband remarried pretty quickly and had a baby with wife #2 right away. It was a nighmare for wife #1 (she's a friend of mine, so ...

Re: Discouraging Incident

Thanks for all the great responses. They've helped me be more clear headed and less emotional about this. I'd been feeling like "what's the point? Things will never change, and I'll never be free to express my true self." Now I realize there's still hope, but it's going take so much longer than I wa...

Discouraging Incident

I've been very discouraged and unsettled the last few days. I had an experience on Sunday that, though small, has really upset me and I can't stop thinking about it. I went visiting teaching on Sunday pm. My comp is the RS pres., a kind and generous person, and my good friend, but she's a very black...

Re: My guest post on W & T

Nice post and I agree with many of your opinions. Many on this site believe there has been SLOW progress made over many years to include the doubters, and that is true to a certain extent. But in some aspects, I see back sliding. Sometimes I feel the wagons are being circled again. Like many here, I...

Re: Newbie with another question

From another point of view, if you don't see the Book of Mormon as literally having actually taking place, and view it more as a literary work, there is always the thing we learned in high school English - suspension of disbelief. My feelings too, DJ. Makes life much easier in some ways, doesn't it...

Without giving any of my personal opinions on the subject, I'll just direct you to this article found on from FM that deals with this question.

Re: Struggling with Joseph Smith

I don't mean to churn the waters but I did want to explain how I struggled. I viewed JS as a Christian heavy metal band. Yeah, I'm weird. Let's say there's a metal band that's really struggling to find success commercially. Some bands don't make it because they never had an opportunity, their big b...

Re: John Dehlin Facing Excommunication

I was talking to a CES (now called S&I) Coordinator in a leadership calling not too long ago (no, not that one ;) ). I've worked with him in relation to callings I've had. I know him pretty well, and he's a great guy who helps a lot of people. We got talking about the thorny issues and he said that ...

Re: Dealing With Identity Crisis

I remember only too well how painful those initial days of a FC are, and you're having marital problems too. I'm so sorry for your pain and troubles. You've said very little about your husband's background, and that's OK, but I'm hoping that the divorce isn't solely because you're both going through...
