Re: My outburst in the branch conference priesthood meeting

I would have loved to be there. I love those types of Priesthood lessons. In our ward, High Priests is basically an "agreement fest". The teacher makes a point and everyone nods in agreement. There's very little discussion unless someone brings up something that isn't "TBM" worthy. A few years ago t...

Re: Life Changing Experiences

It wasn't "in the blink of an eye", but over a year or two. I was married with a 3 year old son and a new house and starting a business. Life couldn't be better right? I was also not active and hadn't been for many years. A year later, I was divorced, barely saw my son, unemployed and entering bankr...

Re: When Does Word of Wisdom get disavowed?

Another reason I don't see the policy changing, and it was touched upon in this thread. The WoW is a very visible thing that distinguishes this church from most others. Take that away and what do you have? Well, you still have a bunch of other unique things but none are nearly as visible as the WoW...

Re: Describe your level of introvertedness or extrovertednes

According to the Myers-Briggs Personality Test I am an introvert (52%).

I would agree with that assessment. There is a big department meeting/social tonight at work and I am dreading it!!

Re: Rough Stone Rolling and My Shelf

I have read the book and so has my wife (most of it at least). We have had very different reactions to it. It seems to have lead to her dissafection with the Church, whereas for me it seemed to not bother me. For me it shows that JS was a flawed human being that had a spiritual awakening and dealt w...

Re: Polygamy: A Very Specific Question

I know a woman who is in this exact position. Her first husband was my seminary teacher. They were married for 15 years I think and had 7 kids. One year later, he was killed in a car accident. Then later on, she remarried and has been with her second husband for about 20 years now and they have a fe...

Re: Chastity: What Are the Limits?

"I remember HawkGrrrl talking about women at Rick's College (Now BYUI) that would do oral and other things with a clear conscience because it wasn't specifically prohibited in the temple." Actually that was at Provo BYU. On the upside, nobody ever got preggers from a blow job. We just had a 70 here...
