Can you help me interpret this statement about disclipline?

Maybe several things.... Discipline to delegate appropriately, some things an effective leader just has to do themselves and that requires effort. It is easy to hand off things to others, but If you delegate too many important things you risk being uninformed or less informed with critical details i...

DH, Garments, In-laws, Anxiety

MayB you could be married to one of my brothers. Your situation is also my reality with uber-TBM parents. My mother loves me, but is still disappointed after 2 decades that I chose not to serve a mission (at the time she would have rather I died than not serve, she thought/thinks she failed with me)...

Pioneer Trek is stupid

I am the Pa that was lucky to have "God is Love" as a Ma with me on a Trek (Hello dear, nice to see you posting your usual uplifting stuff, you are a good balance for my pessimism). I am way sensitive to anything that seems like coercion or propaganda and that was the hard part of Trek for me, as so...

Roadshows

Ray USU is a great school and Cache Valley is a beautiful place. I think your daughter will like it here. The church members can be intense here though. I guess they can anywhere though.

Plus, she might get to be in one of those roadshows that seem to be extinct in other parts of the world.

Roadshows

The roadshow is still being done in my stake in the Northern Cache Valley area. I personally don't enjoy it, or the pressure placed on youth and leaders to participate. My stake (ward even more so) is very traditional and there are lots of things done because that is just how it always has been done...

All or nothing?

This is from the Daily Quotes Post Mackay11 started. quote="mackay11"]This is a good one from B.H. Roberts: “While the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is established for the instruction of men; and it is one of God’s instrumentalities for making known the truth yet he is not limited to t...

Good short and sweet version of Rough Stone Rolling?

I read this letter too. It was NOT helpful in my journey trying to get over the hurt and angry feelings I've been having about the church over these historical issues. I did however read a few things I hadn't heard before in it. I wish the church would respond with something meaningful to answer or ...

The God Who Weeps: How Mormonism Makes Sense of Life (Terryl

I read this book recently and thought it was very good. Some very thought provoking concepts, I am going to re-read and take notes this time around. I substituted this for Sunday School attendance for a few weeks, it was a very good trade for me.

I'd recommend this book to anyone, it is good.
