Re: NYT Article on disaffected Swedish Area Authority

One thing I might well add to my quotes library is this: Eric Hawkins, a church spokesman, said that “every church faces this challenge,” adding, “The answer is not to try to silence critics, but to provide as much information and as much support as possible to those who may be affected.” Note how ...

Re: Useful quote of the day...

That 1946 quote is incredible. I am somewhat ambivalent about the quote. My father worked on the Manhattan Project, and while the bomb certainly was beyond all imagination in terms of its power for evil, I am not sure that I share J Reuben Clark's sentiment that it was a mistake or a tragedy, or th...

Re: Fearing the transition

I have been giving a lot of thought to faith crisis and transition of late. I've seen some say that faith crisis and transition are things to be avoided if at all possible. I am coming to think that faith transition is part of that maturation of faith, and not only should not be avoided, but should ...

Re: facing mortal limitations

facing mortal limitations

Well...I'm having shoulder surgery today. All my lugging luggage has ripped apart my shoulder ligaments, and I've procrastinated my day of reckoning long enough...

Pres. Uchtdorf said the following in a talk at a CES fireside in January that included the story of The Blind Men and the Elephant - one of the best talks I have ever heard for everyone here. We look at this story from a distance and smile. After all, we know what an elephant looks like. We have re...

From Brigham Young: There is one principle I wish to urge upon the Saints in a way that it may remain with them—that is, to understand men and women as they are, and not understand them as you are. From Journal of Discourse. http://en.fairmormon.org/Journal_of_Discourses/8/8 Remarks by President BR...

Re: Amy Adams and Mormonism

There is something still quite Mormon about her although it's hard to put my finger on. Maybe like Judaism or Catholicism it never leaves you. In Man of Steel, Crowe steals the show but Adams comes second. Like many such women she seems to be under the delusion she's ugly! Amazing. A friend at chur...

Re: Sorry more questions & my experience today

serene, it is never easy to embark on a new path. missionaries are more or less wired to challenge you to be baptized, but you should not commit before you are ready. i believe we have a guide in our lives. some call this the holy spirit, others something else. i choose to call it the god within , a...
