Re: Church This Week

Sacrament meeting is the place of well-documented primary woes and battling with said energetic toddler, and an 8 year old who "doesn't wanna do church anymore". When we go to church, either my husband helps, or I strategically sit with older childless families/individuals who love my daughters (as...

Re: Hello.

Welcome to our group. You have a very interesting Introduction. I personally don't know anyone who has been diagnosed as schizophrenic. How was it diagnosed? How are you being treated? (mediation, talk therapy, etc) I have friends & members of my family who are being treated for emotional issues. Th...

Re: Stayin' Alive

Arrakeen, welcome to the "group". The good news is: you're not alone. One thing you said struck a chord: My recent experiences fundamentally changed my faith. I can no longer believe in the same black and white, right and wrong worldview that I once had. I can no longer trust other people or authori...

Re: Good things that happen at church

...I think for me the most difficult, unfulfilling aspect about our church is the 3 hour block. I'm not talking about length, I'm talking about the scripted, predictable, walled-off nature of the lessons and talks and how the block makes me feel like an outsider. I feel the real church lives outsid...

Re: Pope Francis Message of Healing

The message is heartfelt & meaningful only when it brings about real change in the organization. It hasn't so far. It would be interesting to see what the membership think about this problem & what the solution should be. I'm surprised there isn't an open revolt. Would allowing clergy to marry go an...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

What about: LDSSA?
Is it now: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Student Association?

Aren't there more pressing issues to address?

Re: My Lonely Search for God

Last summer I entered the field of social work and became a therapist in the prison setting. I loved the population, and at the same time, they pushed me to a place I had never been before. I had never felt so broken. As I listened to what had happened to these people, what these people had done to...

Re: My Lonely Search for God

bdavis3, welcome & thank you for your post. Many of us have gone through what you have seen, heard & experienced. As a result we ask ourselves why. This is a good place to discuss issues & share ideas & experiences. My only conclusion is, it is better to talk with a friend than to sit in the dark an...

The Ministry of Peter the Chief Apostle

(I looked to see if anyone has posted a review for this book & couldn't find one.) This book is the product of a Sidney B Sperry Symposium at BYU. It deals with the life, ministry & times of the Apostle Peter. Each chapter has a different author & topic. You can jump around depending on the topic or...

Re: Repentance, confessions, and letting go of the past

They are married. There seems to be no lasting repercussions...other than what they have been taught in church that it is unresolved, which makes them feel bad about themselves for messing up. They know other couples that confessed and went through the disciplinary process...which seemed kinda hars...
