Re: Will our state in the final judgment be temporary?

With regard to this topic, I've co-opted a little bit of truth from Jacob (not a Jacob from the scriptures but the character from the final season of LOST)... It only ends once. Everything that comes before is just progress. And I add to that the teachings of Joseph Smith which indicate in no uncert...

Re: Maybe we are not listening

Thanks, m&g. In all honesty, at this point in my life, I really don't need much of the Church's scaffolding. I participate actively in the Church largely to be part of the scaffolding building team for others , and some of my motivation in doing so is to try to make sure the scaffolding doesn't end...

Re: Maybe we are not listening

Is it possible that all our doubts and questions about the church are in actuality God trying to tell us it is not correct or true and it is the wrong path to be on. That we should stop trying to fit square pegs in round holes and embrace other options. For some reason this has been on my mind late...

Re: There and back again

Observant, Cool :) PM me who you are if you're willing. It'd be nice to know who I'm talking to (well, sort of...) Canadiangirl, What I meant by that statement was that I feel like I've gotten closer to what the real core of the gospel is and stripped away the periphery. Just like the children of Is...

Re: There and back again

Thanks for putting out the welcome mat :) I'm not sure I could actually descibe all the ups and downs I've experienced. It's taken half a life to live them, it'd surely take a good bit of time to recount them. I'll probably just end up sharing tidbits in the course of conversation rather than trying...

There and back again

After a bit of lurking, I decided to join in the conversation. I hope no one minds. ;) As the thread title suggests, I've been around the block on issues of faith more than once. I've had intellectual crises over historical issues that I was able to reconcile to my satisfaction over time. I've had s...

Re: Redemption - and "Exercising Faith in the Redemption"

How do I define faith in redemption? If faith is truly a principle of power, an active force that can be manifest in my life, then by my estimation, it must be something I can practically apply. Over the years, I've decided that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the first principle of the gospel means...
