Something Positive

Lately I've found myself feeling less inclined to return to the Church because of the negative comments at StayLDS. I thought, perhaps, each of you could post a list of some positives about staying LDS. I truly need to read something emotionally and spiritually uplifting.

Can you help me?

Re: History as we awaken

But I maintain my faith that I can learn truth if I keep seeking, even when I can only see through a glass, darkly for now. Forgive me, but when I read the word "truth," I couldn't help but think of the hymn "Oh Say, What Is Truth?" Then say, what is truth? ’Tis the last and the first, For the limi...

"Obedience"

I was doing some on-line research about Mormon women converts and came upon an interesting blog. I found this post about "Obedience" and thought I'd share it here at StayLDS. I have read stories of members who were excommunicated for refusing to recant views they’d aired publicly, which were contrar...

Re: Where do you see the Church in 5, 10, 20 years?

There is, indeed, a division that seems to be widening quickly between conservative mormons and liberal mormons....internet mormons and chapel mormons....TBM's and NOM's....etc... not to mention us nutty fundamentalists. :D The division probably always existed to an extent but the internet has allo...

Re: May I have your, Belief-O-Matic, please?

I've taken this quiz in the past. It was interesting to find quite a change in my results this time around. 1. Unitarian Universalism (100%) 2. Liberal Quakers (93%) 3. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (92%) 4. Neo-Pagan (90%) 5. Mahayana Buddhism (87%) 6. Theravada Buddhism (85%) 7. New Ag...

Re: Women's Role In Mormonism

Jeriboy, you wrote: Perfection is a long way off, I think looking for ways to make things work for ourselves is better than making up an issue that may be only an issue in someone's mind. Can you expound on your comment? I'm trying to understand what you meant by "making up an issue." Poppyseed ~ I ...

Women's Role In Mormonism

This past Friday, I read an article titled “No: I’m Not Satisfied with Women’s Role in Judaism” by Chana Weisberg. As I read the article, I found myself changing the word “Judaism” to “Mormonism.” I believe that much of what Ms. Weisberg wrote would resonate with LDS women. After reading the article...

Any converts here at StayLDS?

In reading through most of the Introductions, I got the impression that everyone here is a life-long member of the Church. As a convert (who is now an ex-Mormon), I feel terribly alone. No matter what LDS forums I visit or what LDS blogs I read, I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. I understan...

Still Small Voice

I promised by DH that I would ask this question here. DH has Asperger's Syndrome and often takes what people say literally. He has always struggled with what the term "still small voice" means. He asked what it meant during a Gospel Doctrine class, but the teacher did not answer his question. So, ca...

Families Can Be Together Forever

There are times a topic comes to mind for no particular reason. This is one of those times. I've been wondering why some families would want to be together forever when they can't get along in this life. Do families really want to be together forever? If they do, what do they envision a forever fami...
