Re: Nelson's Version of PoX as Revelation in Seminary Manual

OH, CRAP! I'm the seminary teacher (I am really struggling with this particular book of scripture this year). How am I gonna approach this one? Over at WheatandTares.org ... I posted this advice... I hope the seminary teachers include stories from scriptures and church history that show tha...

We talk about things that do not relate to my life or help me with life's challenges and we elevate them to the status of new issues I have to deal with.
This is kinda the feeling I'm wrestling with as well.

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

TBH, I think the Church will always need something to fight for and struggle against. "Onward Christian Soldiers", "Armor of God" and all that. This seems like a pretty harmless focal point. Thanks dande....I agree with you... Just still wondering today and pondering... If everything we hear at chu...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

Aren't there more pressing issues to address? This is actually a very interesting question to me and I've been pondering all day. Because here is the prophet: The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

Great quotes nibbler!!

We would get greater traction with a response like "Mormon means more good" than asking everyone to call us "The restored gospel of Jesus Christ"

Thumbs up to GBH!

Re: Nelson's Version of PoX as Revelation in Seminary Manual

The church teaches us the role of prophets: From the soon to be renamed website LDS.org topics: Like the prophets of old, prophets today testify of Jesus Christ and teach His gospel. They make known God’s will and true character. They speak boldly and clearly, denouncing sin and warning of its conse...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

... For some reason, it just didn't sit right with me. It's like they were trying to choose their own nickname. ... It's like that episode of Big Bang Theory. Howard is doing his best to convince the other astronauts to give him the nickname "Rocket Man" but it ends up not working. In that light I ...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

I say that instead of focusing on our name, we focus on our actions.

Most know nowadays "LDS" or "mormon" is an informal reference, not actual name of church.

God goes by many names, I'm sure he is cool with his church having a few.

Let's worry about the policies and actions that show who we are.

I explained it all to him and told him there was nothing wrong in any thing we had done He still disfellowshipped me but I still argue I did nothing wrong Do remember feeling any different status with God after the disfellowshipping process? Like...you didn't have as much access to the spirit...the...

Re: The Stonemason

I might have thought of some miracles like some kind of special protection in years pas...
