Re: New First Presidency of the church

All of the problems I have with the Church can be boiled down to this. When so much emphasis is placed on the spirit guiding and directing the church and leaders and even personally to find truth....this is kind of a scary thing. How to rely on the spirit for things...what is the spirit and not. It...

Re: New First Presidency of the church

I believe this new FP is basically the start of the Oaks administration. I actually see good wisdom here...RMN is 93. God will keep him capable of leading for as long as needed. But as we saw with Hinckley and Monson, they were mostly running things well before their call as President when Benson an...

Re: On DFU Making it Back to the FP or Becoming Pres

I think this is where natural attrition holds it sway. From what I can tell, reading on LDS.org and listening to others, I believe this is kind of what we accept as revelation for a prophet now, right? If God does not want to call an Apostle to be the prophet, they will pass away before getting the...

Re: What's the holdup?

Haha... wouldn't that be a kick in the pants. I don't watch much live TV these days. I will likely be on the ski slopes but have my DVR set to record. I'll get around to it eventually. Maybe I will try to watch it from my phone on the slopes????? If any of you are fasting that day...please also pray...

Re: What's the holdup?

Tuesday is the announcement.

I was sent a special invitation directly to my registered email in lds.org.

I feel special.

Re: FP under RMN Presidency

I can't imagine it being different than RMN, but technically the first presidency is resolved, and the Apostles lead the church, and they decide to reorganize a new First Presidency, or leave as is and run the church as Quorum of the 12 Apostles (Although there are 14 currently). It isn't automatica...

It's a daily battle
you win some and and some days don't but sometimes you live another day to try again...I feel more on the cynicism side as of late.

Re: 1st Sunday councils

I actually made the comment in our meeting when discussing how to get more to attend monthly temple night, that we should be sensitive to those who don't want to go. Some people don't need more pressure or guilt to go...we shouldn't assume everyone is in a place to be able to go monthly. That was my...

Re: 1st Sunday councils

Those are good points SD. Perhaps my frustrations are I already feel we make announcements in SM, at the beginning of class, opening exercises for Priesthood, and now this whole class. So inefficient. So boring. Such a waste of my time...and now we are doing MORE?? I want less planning and meetings ...

Re: 1st Sunday councils

I see it as an opportunity for the quorums and groups to make plans. Everyone is together, as much as possible, so it's a good time to set goals, review progress, make assignments etcetera. But it takes some leadership skill to do it. You have to understand how to direct participation into producti...
