Re: He totally changed sacrament meeting

Although I've been given conference talks as the subject to speak on, I never used it as they said in the article, just reading it or making it any different than how the new bishop suggested speakers approach talks. I always took the idea from conference talks, and then ran with it on my own with m...

Re: Ward treating us like we're inactive?

Oh, one more thought....maybe as others said above...being inactive isn't such a bad thing. So...it may be ok to be treated as such.

Thanks.

Re: Ward treating us like we're inactive?

Looking at it from their perspective...they are probably trying to know how to make you feel welcome in the ward and not ignored or forgotten, but maybe don't know what you want. So they are reaching out, as they would to others who are less active. A nice little, "Hi, how are you?" is all I really ...

Re: Joseph Smith Could Not Have Written the Book of Mormon

All I know is before Joseph Smith there was no book. Then there was a book

That book, however it came about, has impacted my life and my family greatly.

Re: What are the benefits of being a member of the church?

To you, what are the second-half-of-life questions? 1. How can we make this interesting and less drudgerous? 2. How can we make the experience truly uplifting? 3. How can we co-mission the LDS experience with the needs and interests of members? 4. How can we satisfy questions that, in the first hal...

Re: Bill Reel about to get excommunicated? >:-(

At some point, Bill decides what is a lie to him...and what he can no longer stay quiet about. At that point, excommunication is not a surprise or too painful...it just is the course. He could avoid it if he wanted to. But it is not a big thing he stands up for what he believes. It just is the way f...

Re: What are the benefits of being a member of the church?

Yes, dande. I think we are saying the same thing. The church is not one size fits all, and middle way is not one prescribed measure the same for everyone. Middle way is finding YOUR way. You either stay or you go. And go through the mud and holes that will be there with either option, just perhaps d...

Re: Challenges in life & the impact of prayer.

I think dande hit the nail on the head. It has been my experience that the heavens feel closed to my prayers, and the worst time in my life when I really felt like "if not now...then I don't care about interventions ever"...led me to learn a lot of things about myself. It seems everything with god a...

Re: What are the benefits of being a member of the church?

Happiness doesn't come from others in church talking great about you, or the absence of them talking negatively behind closed doors. The benefits of being a member are in the social contract, which requires some personal sacrifice or compromise to be part of the group and partake of the benefits. Lo...
