Re: Teaching Relief Society

Every lesson can have those nuggets of great wisdom and teaching to build on. Find those and spread those with your own style. You cannot be responsible for messing up anyone else's tesimony, just as you can not force anyone to have a testimony. That is their journey. Just give them some things to t...

Re: Relief Society Lesson

Something tells me that if your faith transition is honest and sincere, God is there with you and leading you along the path of growth. That is what He cares about most in us...the growth and learning. All else takes care of itself. God wants a willing heart and contrite spirit. He knows when you ar...

Re: Are relationships really capable of lasting forever?

Anything that you cultivate and nourish and put effort to can grow in your heart, if you want it. With love, things grow. With lack of love or apathy they can fade away. It's an interesting thing, relationships with things and other beings. Love is the key.

Re: Jana Reiss' - Millenials/Church Changes

I think major change is inevitable. Even in the last few years I've been at BYU, I've noticed some significant changes in the culture. Students are becoming much more open about expressing pro-LGBT and feminist views. I want to be optimistic about the timeline. I think there will be many big change...

Re: Next Gen vs. a Patriarchal Church

Do you feel hopeful or hopeless (or somewhere in between) about the current trajectory and pace in the church at getting past the gender limited thinking? I'm optimistic and hopeful. I think the pace could be a little quicker (maybe we need to "lengthen our stride" in this regard :P ) but I think w...

Re: WOW Seminary Manual

... Doctrine and Covenants 130:21, “And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.” This can alter the understanding of "blessing of God" be be something akin to a natural consequence of an action. Good point. And that may be something that des...

Re: Returning to help others with a F/C

It is great to hear the road others take along their journey, and I'm glad you are sharing yours. It can help so many others who read. Thanks for your posts. I feel like there is a place among the saints for unorthodox members. Maybe not always easy or supported...but it is an option as long as one'...

Re: New Video Format of Temple Endowment

There was a time when women covenanted to obey their husbands as he obeyed the Lord. Then it was changed to "hearken" to their husbands as he hearkened to the Lord. Currently both men and women covenant to obey God. There is no intermediary for either gender. Also in the sealing women used to "give...

Re: WOW Seminary Manual

I think there were many things like this happening in the early church which would surprise us and teach us how revelation in the church works. All it takes, it seems, is a prophet to say we must obey it...and it is done. "patching together a theology" is kind of another way to say "ongoing revelati...

Re: Are all religions the same?

Hi. And welcome. Good question to discuss about religions. I feel not all religions are the same, but they are not all that different. To me, they are like different exercise and diet programs. Some are fads. Some come and go. Some are pushed by people with an agenda (like making money). Many can wo...
