Re: Food Storage a Commandment?

Follow the prophet. He has counseled us to plant a garden and fruit trees. My problem is not if it is called a commandment or not, but how much pressure people put on themselves to obey "all the commandments". Gardens take time. Home teaching takes time. Church is 3 hours of block time plus the pre...

Re: The Gospel of Checklists

Acts 2: 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall ...

Re: You CAN use non-manual resource in teaching classes

our last stake conference included many powerpoint slides, including the things that are attacking the church and the bubbles of things/people who influence people leaving the church. I taught HPG last week all on powerpoint and used a YouTube video also. I got compliments for it. It's WAY better th...

Re: Food Storage a Commandment?

I would say it is a commandment from the prophets. From the church website, we read: “Our Heavenly Father created this beautiful earth, with all its abundance, for our benefit and use. His purpose is to provide for our needs as we walk in faith and obedience. He has lovingly commanded us to ‘prepare...

Re: Small victories: Open up to my first family member, my cousin.

We talk about the church. Doubts, beliefs, and the good and the bad. We shared some tears and laughs. I do think that these topics can be discussed with mature, open-minded people in a way that doesn't offend or doesn't attack their own beliefs, if you do it right. It sounded like you did it right ...

Re: Won't let me baptize my son... I might be done

So for now I have found this little space where I can operate - participate in ordinances, etc. But there is a deep spiritual pit in my soul that I do not believe the church is able to fill for me at this point in my life. Very good and thoughtful answer. Maybe that spiritual fulfillment going forw...

Re: Won't let me baptize my son... I might be done

Now that this has passed, and you look back and reflect on it....what do you mostly think? Were the leaders more reasonable than you thought they would be, or was this just a huge headache that pushes you further out?

Re: Why hold the line on this?

Sometimes they only have half-truths, waiting for more light and knowledge means incomplete truth now. In those cases...they do their best with what they have. Sometimes it is not good enough in the moment for us. Long term may be different, but it causes frustration now. Spirituality is dealing wit...
