Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

The orthodox, Christian God's desire is what we describe as Lucifer's plan: "Praise me! Give me glory! Tell me how great I am!" The Mormon God says, "This is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." If you are interested, I wrote the following in 2010: " Belie...

Re: Logical argument for male-exclusive Priesthood authority

Sexist men won the ancient battle to run the ecclesiastical show, and their successors assumed it was God's will.

Totally logical and, I think, true.

Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

I define becoming like God as becoming my absolute best self - and that is the best reward I can imagine, in this life or eternally. Love your musings, nibbler. Kind of like losing in order to gain - or, perhaps, gaining as a result of losing, as long as the gaining was not intended for self-gratifi...

Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

To be like him - at least, that is what is stated in the passages from which the quote is taken.

If that is the reward, it is interesting to contemplate what that says about how God "gives his alms".

Re: Honesty

"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." You are part of "we", "our", and "all men". Hold onto THAT iron rod, since I believe strongly it is the word of G...

I love that statement in our Articles of Faith. I think ot is a wonderful summary of the concept of grace that gets overlooked too much.

Re: What I thought was inspiration probably isn't...

"You know what really ticks me off? When people do not walk around praising me all the time and doing exactly what I say!"

Lucifer's plan in a nutshell. Just saying.

Also: A) God is perfect. B) He makes nothing but good choices. A+B=C) God does not play the accordion.

Re: Honesty

Honesty is nothing more than saying what you believe, whether or not it is true. "Full" honesty is saying everything you believe, whether or not it is true, and not holding anything back ***when asked*** - no matter how much you think it might hurt someone, for example. Transparency is saying everyt...

Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

I don't see why you can't get reward from people and God for the same act of goodness. I didn't say you can't. Seriously, I didn't say that - but changing what I said to what you wrote above is a natural, easy thing to do. Re-read what I wrote. I think you will see that what you wrote isn't there. ...
