Re: Home Teaching is Over, Long Live Home Teaching!

The actions and discussions in our ward have been great so far.

They even have said we are in a bit of a holding pattern until the new EQP is called and can coordinate properly with the RS President to make new assignments for everyone.

Seriously, that is major progress.

Re: Urgent Request for Input

Thanks, again, everyone, for your input. I need to submit it tonight. I decided to focus on scriptural references at this point, so I am using only one statement from an individual. I am going to begin the first session with the following from Elder Wirthlin's “Concern for the One” (which, I am sure...

Re: Nelson in Africa

To follow up on what Roy just said: I have a huge problem with anything that even implies ridicule of the widow for paying her mite - or even the system that demanded she do so. It is important for people to feel like they are contributing to something about which they care deeply, and it is unchari...

Re: Getting ordained online

I have said for many years that we ought to encourage ALL fathers, not just Mormon fathers, to give their children father's blessings - simply removing the mention of Priesthood. I believe the same about mother's blessings. Likewise, as long as there is no official religious affiliation involved, I ...

Re: Do You Believe in the Literal Christ?

It is important to hold onto a degree of innocence, if only to remain open to learning things that would not be possible without it.

Re: Filled With Charity Even When Not Living Church Commandments

I would have responded in almost the exact way Roy did.

Count it as a wonderful blessing and hang onto the feeling you received. It is a good thing. Period.

Re: Do You Believe in the Literal Christ?

To paraphrase my earlier comment, I love the concept of a savior/redeemer/messiah/Son of God, but I can't say I believe in a specific view of the concept, whether literal, symbolic, or something else. It simply was so long ago that I can't be certain. Therefore, my view is based exclusively on faith...

Re: Navigating from the Dark Night

If you are interested, I wrote the following back in 2008, describing why I have never experienced a dark night of separation:
