Re: Does God answer every prayer?

I struggle with the same question. The short answer I'd give is no. There are over 7 billion people on this planet who could pray for 7 billion contradicting outcomes; even if you limit it to the roughly 2 billion Christians the "butterfly-effect" of all those prayers being "answered" would be chaot...

Re: Is Sacrament Meeting being held anywhere but Utah?

I live in northern Utah. My ward is going to start meetings this coming Sunday and every third Sunday after that. They are only doing 45min Sacrament meetings in two sessions with half the ward at a time. They aren't "mandatory" and those 65+ and other high risk individuals are told to stay home. He...

Re: New Reading Material Or Podcasts

The Rational Bible by Denis Prager. It's a commentary on the first books in the Bible (the Torah) from a Jewish perspective but written to people of all faiths and secular people. Only Genesis and Exodus are currently published right now. The Jews have been studying the Old Testament in it's origina...

[...] 1) You are not alone. What you are experiencing is totally normal and has nothing to do with satan. Thanks. Its nice to be understood. 2) I recommend against dumping everything on your spouse all at once. However, I would clue her in to some parts if only to not feel alone. For me, it became ...

Re: Covid-19 and religious freedom

I agree that the church is in a good position to do a lot virtually. They could broadcast messages and instructions as often as they want. The problem here is a virtual church doesn't accomplish what should be the most important function of the church meetings. Human beings are social creatures and ...

Re: Finally Being Honest to Myself

[...]I particularly relate to your last paragraph in that I don't trust feelings alone any more and that I don't feel much anyway. It's so difficult to separate emotion from church teachings about what the Spirit feels like, but I have learned that most of what I feel is not the Spirit and is nothi...

Finally Being Honest to Myself

I just found this place. I'm happy to see so many people going through the same things as me. I just want to introduce myself a bit. I'm a multi-generational member of the church on both sides of my family. I grew up very orthodox, attended meetings, studied, prayed, and tried to be good. I never qu...
