Re: Positive Changes to the LDS Church Handbook

I have a few misgivings about the statements it now makes about medical cannabis. I used cannabis for the very first time several years ago to fight my prostate cancer. I used cannabis oil, typically called RSO or FECO, and when I did the standard 60-gram protocol it brought my PSA *way* down, lower...

Deseret foods at food banks

I call them food banks for lack of a better term, but over the last couple of months many places have distributed food packages from funding for the COVID19 relief bill. As I understand it, most of the food comes from when the USDA paid farmers for produce and other products that were going to waste...

Re: New Announcement from Church HQ (missionary apparel)

I was in a no suit coat mission but we had to have them for the MTC and the plane rides. We lugged our unused suit coat from town to town during transfers. I was in Hawaii 40 years ago. We wore suit coats for church and a couple of similar occasions. The one oddity when I arrived there was that we ...

Re: How will the Church change in light of the Covid Virus?

One thing I hope changes, at least this is the way things are done locally, is that when the building is cleaned they'll use disinfectant instead of plain water to clean things like door handles and such.

Re: Peace without forgiveness

This is spot on relevant for me right now. My situation is a little different, of course. What has been troubling me is how to "forgive" someone for something they did to me when. A) they now totally deny they did it at all, and B) they were never told the severity of the consequences, that it could...

Re: We can't get married

I have a suggestion for you. Get married in a civil ceremony and then you won't be breaking any asinine rules. The church's rules aren't the only considerations in this case. Tinsoldier stated in one of the earlier posts that there are other considerations involving finances, loss of income, etc. E...

Re: Was Jesus Married?

The Book of Phillip in the Nag Hamadi implies that he may have been married.

"And the companion of the [...] Mary Magdalene. [... loved] her more than [all] the disciples [and used to] kiss her [often] on her [...]"

Re: A strange prayer

Benefit of the doubt... perhaps he phrased his statements in an odd way because all temples are currently closed indefinitely? It was more like he never expected us to achieve that. I wish I could remember the words he selected. Hey, some members lack tact. I remember one home teaching companion I ...

A strange prayer

A couple of weeks ago a friend from the ward stopped by so we could give him and his wife some masks. Before he left he asked if he could pray with us and we agreed. Since the virus was a concern at the time, he stayed on the porch the whole time. The prayer seemed really odd at the time and since t...

Re: Should I feel guilty?

Man alive, I could be in deep water over the whole failure in the home. I had a divorce about the time my oldest was 18 and my youngest (I have 4 kids) was about 11. I don't feel like I had much choice with the divorce. My ex had recently announced that, after nearly 20 years and fou kids, that she ...
