Re: Two Guests for Christmas

The movie really speaks to me - different scenes and whatnot.

But I find the soundtrack breath-taking and a source for inspiration worthy of (though not limited to) the Sabbath.

Re: Spiritual Role of Emotions

People like to think their decisions are reached rationally but that is rarely the case. A lot of the time the decisions were made emotionally and the people rationalize these decisions afterwards. Humans are not really a logical species at all. This. I was given an opportunity in my life to take a...

Interactions at Church - Mini Rant

I had an experience at church where I MISSED the non-verbal communication entirely. A sister had judged me and highly disliked me for the better part of 2 years - AND did nothing to absolve that until she was assigned as my VT and we started talking about it. I get that her judgement call is not my ...

Re: Two Guests for Christmas

I can't do Smithmas. I refuse. I even have a few things I like about the guy. But I am with Amy. If we are Smithmassing, then Da@# it all - I want to sing Silent Night in April. In our home, we do sing "Silent Night" in April, in June, in October... whenever we feel like it. We do bow to social con...

Re: The First Law of the Gospel

Why obedience? It doesn't seem logical to me that God wants us fixed and immobile in our ways. He also made the world far too complicated to easily decide all the time what is 100% right and 100% wrong. As an adult, there are too many situations where there is a cost/benefit decision to be made tha...

Re: Two Guests for Christmas

No, so no. <full-stop> Of course, I am of the opinion that if Jesus Christ's birthday is actually in April as reported by revelation, then we should be celebrating his birthday in April <literalist minority that I am> - I don't feel that showing love by celebrating a person's birthday 3 months after...

Re: Youth Bishop Interviews

Our branch president gave us weird looks when I said I wanted to be there (which translated into my husband and baby sitting in as well) for our 8 year old's "interview". He went through his spiel about baptism and questions (that my daughter needed coaxing to answer at all and did not give answers ...

Re: Proselytizing without Eternal Family mention

Theologically I imagine us being better Christians (not in an arrogant way). There is just so much depth to Christian Discipleship. When I let my heart imagine it, we could be true Mormons (which according to Joseph Smith meant "More Good"). To love with less judgement and more sincerity. To use ou...

Re: Proselytizing without Eternal Family mention

I love the principle of family centeredness and working to promote security, love, refuge, safety, support, and harmony within the home. This :P For some there needs to be a literal interpretation in order to get and stay motivated. Exclusivity also helps - you can only have an eternal family IF yo...

Re: Gospel Principles class?

I don't really feel I need answers. I am not sure that I have all the correct questions, let alone any of the answers. I'm good with that though (mostly). That's not to say that I believe I have all the answers or that I'm somehow smarter than everyone else, it's just that the classes at church fee...
