"the men need the responsibility because they are weaker than the women".
That is a sexist notion, and I resent the men and women who perpetuate it.

Re: Logical argument for male-exclusive Priesthood authority

Back a long time ago, our premordial ancestors broke away from asexual reproduction, as a result of evolutionary pressures. This allowed for certain members of the species to devote most of their resources into growing progeny (females), while the other members could focus more heavily on spreading ...

Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

To be like god... and how much time does god spend thinking about what reward god will receive from god? ;) Could the reward be freedom from the quest of chasing after rewards? You could argue that the quest is over once you receive the reward but what happens when you lose all desire to chase rewa...

Re: Honesty

I feel anything but comfortable :( Beach, we know what you mean. It is a sucky position to be in. I HATE it; and I still feel like I'm struggling to make the best of a non-ideal situation. It turned into an hour long worship service for Joseph Smith. On this subject, just the other day I decided to...

Re: Honesty

I've been there. Heck, sometimes I still get mad for the Church teaching me things which turned out to be objectively/factually wrong. It's not something easy to forgive, especially from a church whose #1 claim to fame is "Our Church is the one and only true church upon the face of the earth". It's ...

Re: The *other* 1978 Declaration

Funny, I was thinking the same thing today, Roy, as the subject of "philosophies of men mingled with scripture" came up in PH. I have thought for many years that we are just as guilty of this as everyone else - maybe even more than some. Too true. It's funny, how most things we praise we attribute ...

God is left handed? :o
Apparently. Does that mean lefties are closer to perfection?
I've always thought of God was ambidextrous; I'd also bet he's pretty good at basketball, chess, and playing the accordion.

Re: To Be Seen for the Honors of Men? Lost reward?

I believe some of the wisest, happiest men, are those with the fewest early possessions. He sounds like good company. Here's the gospel according to Dande48: If you do good in hopes of a reward (in this life or the world to come), your desires are still self-interested. The purest good a man can do,...

Re: Near-death Bishop's Counsel

My daughter was dying in ICU and the stake patriarch's wife told me point-blank that she hadn't been healed because she received a blessing from her dad and he must not have been worthy enough or spiritually strong enough to warrant healing from God. She sent her husband down to "do the job right"....
