Re: Sexual "Articles of Faith" for LDS Marital Intimacy

This has me puzzled because I do and don't want to look at it. I can't really imagine someone hefting this tome up to bed with them come wedding night, and reading it. I read a similar LDS Book, about a week before I was married. It was a life saver. I wish my wife had read it too. One of the best ...

There are spiritual messages in the franchise which when you unpack them are either ill thought out or dangerous.
Lol, this is EXACTLY how I feel about both the BOM and Bible. Maybe even moreso.

Re: Sexual "Articles of Faith" for LDS Marital Intimacy

[moderator note: I have tried hard to walk the line of what is appropriate for this forum ("No explicit sexual discussions"). I would appreciate if any comments to follow would do likewise] This "note" stood out to me. I think there's a similar "note" tagged on to our Church meetings, which has cau...

Re: Was Nephi a real person?

The trouble with Star Wars is that it is utterly commercial and what spiritual messages it has are undermined and destroyed by the fact that the makers of the films are so obsessed with making money out of every last detail. If it's popular, someone will try make a fortune off of it. But people sti...

Re: Estimating the Chances - Women in the Priesthood

I think there are too many variables for any sort of decent estimate. For one thing, humans change over time. Even old, traditional, set-in-their-way humans. Society changes too.

Re: Was Nephi a real person?

Personally, I don't believe Moses ever existed. Or if he did, his whole identity and story got twisted far beyond any recognition, and none of the biblical stories about him hold much more than a sliver of truth. As with the Book of Mormon, yes, I believe there is some truth in it. For example, I be...

Re: Ministering Rules

Therefore, if it really is a rule then the church should be willing to write it down as a condition of continuing in a ministering assignment. It does not help the church if we kind of had an unwritten rule that may or not have been explained to the parties involved. With ambiguity in the Church, i...

Re: Ministering Rules

Looking at the title, I thought this would be a post about how awesome ministering is. MINISTERING RULES!!! This "rule" is in large part to protect the "good name of the Church". If a man is alone with children who are not his, or with a woman of the opposite sex who is not his wife, and accusations...

Re: Rome Temple

I think one person's personal revelation can be different than another person's personal revelation because we are all unique and require different things. To your peanuts allergy example I wouldn't say that's a contradiction, since we're talking about two different people in two different (but sim...

Re: Rome Temple

This is off topic but I think the subject that we never broach at church is what we do if we receive personal revelation that isn't in harmony with the revelation a church leader receives. I think we often resolve that in our minds by making the assumption that a genuine personal revelation would a...
