Re: Single Women: You have Priesthood Authority in Your Home

Hoping not to rain on your parade, but this sounds more like, "We don't need to give you the priesthood, because you've had it all along", i.e. attempting to downplay the concerns by redefining. Oak's recent priesthood talk (Oct 2014) didn't mention single sisters, although one did from Oct 2005 (no...

Re: Why Do You Stay?

For my marriage. But "stay" is moving to "only attending sacrament meeting and not accepting callings". Usually it's, "I want to see where all this is headed." Often it's, "I don't know." It may not be the most fulfilling answer, but I suppose it will have to do for now. This is where I am. It's no...

Re: Ex-Bishop Up for Disciplinary Council Regarding Minor Interview Outspeak

I think talking loudly and publicly is also desperately needed. Members need to know when their church causes pain. How else would they know if they don't see it in someone's face? How else does it invade their thoughts? This is a good point. I don't think people would've been aware of the situatio...

Re: Being a Woman in the Church - An Ongoing Existential Crisis

I've never been a woman in the Church, but I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents : 1. Joseph Smith didn't get everything right. Neither has Brigham Young or any prophet up through and including Nelson. Neither have I. Neither have you. 2. We need good mothers. We need good theraptists. 3. People cling t...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

I noticed this in the article too. Isn't there more important issues for the Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) to address? Sometimes I just get tired of all this. By the way, the web site name hasn't changed yet either (lds.org) I think the root of the issue, is that most peo...

Re: Very good post about "what I wish Mormons knew about those that leave"

I can relate to a lot of his story. The only exception is, I haven't had my records removed from the Church. Sometimes, I honestly wonder why I haven't left. I think many of the reasons why active members believe people leave, could be the reasons I have stayed. Maybe I'm too lazy to resign. Maybe I...

Re: Stake Women Leaders on Dry Council Sunday

In the past sometimes... returning Sister missionaries have accompanied said HC member. This happened in my old stake. Whenever an Elder or Sister would return home, the SP would send them out with the HCs for a few talks. I think it would be AWESOME to hear from the women in Leadership! We need th...

Re: Jehovah's Witnesses, return and report

They tend to use their own translation which suits their doctrine and is inconsistent. Also, a lot of their doctrine is dependent on [Ensign]. And doctrine changes on a regular basis. A lot of [Mormons] notice this if they are around for long enough. This sounds a lot like us, doesn't it?

Re: Ex-Bishop Up for Disciplinary Council Regarding Minor Interview Outspeak

I have one question though, how do having all these resignations help Protect the Children? This initially started to protect kids and youth during interviews. Now what happens? If everyone who had a stake in the initial agenda leaves, was the effort worth it? What about all the children left behin...

Re: Ex-Bishop Up for Disciplinary Council Regarding Minor Interview Outspeak

I saw this from the SLT:
"Young’s ousting means he is no longer a Latter-day Saint. He can’t serve in church positions or enter the faith’s temples, pay tithing or speak or offer a public prayer in church meetings."
Ouch!
