Re: Opening up to dating potential LDS girl about my disbelief

I sent her the “thank you for being respectful” text recommend by lookinghard. I also forgot to say I did detail all the values I still retain and my activity with the church. (How often I go to church, tithing, word of wisdom, chasity, etc) Before I just told her about my faith crisis and my disbel...

Opening up to dating potential LDS girl about my disbelief

I’ve been on the forums updating my dating life here and me opening up to TBM women about my heterodox beliefs. All of them seem minor interests and not all that important. This one was probably my hardest one... I met this LDS girl on Mutual (tinder for Mormons) around mid February. She’s in Utah a...

Small victories: Open up to my first family member, my cousin.

Tonight I had an amazing experience. I open up to my cousin about my disbelief. It all started her asking "Do you think the prophet can be wrong?" Obviously I couldn't answer that question honestly unless I gave her context of where I was at. So I told her I didn't believe the church is true but I b...

Opening up on first date small wins

In another thread, I talk about me being upfront about my disbelief and you guys help me with that a lot. After a lot of considerations, I just put on my profile "Heterodox Mormon. Ask me if you want to know more!" So I went on date with lds girl who is from Brazil. So there was a culture and langua...

Re: How forward should I be about my disbelief in dating?

I've done non LDS sites and I haven't found that to be true sadly. Also being in Colorado there isn't really heterodox Mormons here because there isn't a lot of Mormons here in the first place. I'm trying to stay open to it but my results are always falling flat.

Re: How forward should I be about my disbelief in dating?

Thank you, everybody, for your feedback. I appreciate that some of you challenged my thoughts. I'm glad this community isn't an echo chamber. I think my struggle with this is I feel like I am putting an "A" on myself walking around a 1600 Puritan town. (See The Scarlet Letter). If I do this, why can...

Should stay or should I go?

Hey guys, thanks for of all your help over the past year. I think I at the challenge in my faith transition. A little background to catch up on. I lost my faith in the literalism of the church about a year ago. I decided to stay because of spiritual, community and family reasons (single male but I l...

Re: Small steps in the right direction

I also think it helps, that while you are careful still, that you also reiterate positive, common ground beliefs. The focus doesn't need to be on orthodox or unorthodox, in many ways it doesn't matter if you're there to help serve, love, and support your leaders as the ward builds zion up among the...
