Re: Would you want to be a leader in the celestial kingdom?

I don't think that there is any way it could be. I think we'll all be surprised when we get out of this life and we see whatever is on the other side, how drastically different it ended up being. I've taken a few leadership courses, and my take is that these are only applicable to man, and ultimatel...

Re: Lost Time Listener First Time Caller

Welcome Felix.

It's interesting all of the different answers you will get to the same question, and in the end, you will forge your own path. It's been helpful for me to bounce ideas around here as I navigate my faith evolution.

Welcome to the safe sandbox!

Re: "I AM" . . . Me

I like your interpretation Curt. I had replied to your post and obviously forgot to hit post, and when I came back to this tab, my reply wasn't saved. I have to paraphrase now as I won't be able to be as eloquent as I was before. The main point I was going to stress was that of perception, and I thi...

Re: Meeting with the Branch President

I am late to the party on this thread, but read through it all with anticipation on the outcome. I'm so glad that it went well! I also hope that you and your DH can continue to find peace. I nearly cried as I read this (in a good way) He made it clear on several occasions that he would rather be wit...

Re: Teaching Pathways Class

I did a year of pathways a few years ago, it was intense but I liked it. I shied away from teaching and giving talks for awhile during the rough parts of my faith transition, and then I heard Richard Bushman's comment on having the opportunity to talk. Paraphrasing, he said we should take the opport...

Re: Noah film, Creation scene

Maybe the church can get licensing rights and use parts of it for the next new film :)

Re: Alan Watts

'Your rewards in heaven' Sometimes we think that if something is not righted in this life that it will be corrected or justified in the next life, so we don't do anything about it. The thought of a perfected future causes inaction today. And on the otherhand the basis of an afterlife affects society...

Re: My Intro & Hellos

Welcome Emy.d! Great advice from Amy. I think we've all been in situations where we are in crisis mode and these aren't the times to make big decisions. I like to think of it as a faith transition as we should always be transitioning and not be stuck. It sounds like you also have some great opportun...

Re: Alan Watts

I really like these concepts. They get me thinking and broaden my perspectives. On the surface these are easily chocked off as new age mumbo jumbo, but the effect of thinking about the afterlife/current existence without the constraints of dogma is lifting to the soul. In the words of JS: it feels s...
