Re: Struggling

Thanks everyone. Do you feel like denying your truth has a long term negative affect on your soul? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not so long as I can post here. I think it would be very difficult to live the life I do if I didn't have this community. For me this site has been invaluable, but i...

Re: How anonymous are you?

I have no doubt that Mike crossed the lines of civility. But at the same time I do not feel the church is ethical in the endowment on knowing what you are going to agree to ahead of time. Telling you BEFORE you know what is going to go on that you have the right to leave of your own free will and ch...

Re: Experimenting and Experiencing

I think there's something to be said for letting go of guilt and fear. There are many things "the church teaches" that are simply not as bad as what is taught. I think these things are mostly ties to our Puritan roots (in the church and otherwise). Gambling is an example. I don't really see that it...

Re: Experimenting and Experiencing

I agree with the suggestion to trade up. The P thing is difficult. I really like the discussion we had about an article on this topic http://forum.staylds.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6664&p=92583&hilit=naked+ipod#p92583 One of my main takeaways is that porn use is a coping mechanism for loneliness or o...

Re: How anonymous are you?

Awe SNAP! I am not surprised and fully expected this was going on. I fully assume we may have someone glancing at this site from time to time. Certainly on some blogs I write probably are monitored a bit closer. I honestly think that some items that come out are a result of pressure from blogs and s...

Re: Was the priesthood ban revelation?

Pres McKay tried to get rid of it years earlier. He succeeded in extending the priesthood to dark-skinned non-Africans such as Fijians, Negritos, Tamils etc. David O. McKay never gets enough credit for this. Yep. I just read Greg Prince's book on DOM and I did learn a bit. I think he backed of some...

Re: Doubting my Patriarchal Blessing

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriarchal_blessing According to historian D. Michael Quinn, patriarchs were paid in the early years of the LDS Church. The practice of paying patriarchs diminished in the 20th century and was officially ended in 1943. "'Both the Presiding Patriarch and local stake ...

Re: Church Financial Management Principles Applied in Reverse

CS -- my new acronymn for Curtis Sunshine -- I gave this some thought... 1. The church used to publish financials. But they did away with this practice when they ran deficits out of fear of how the membership would react. So, it appears that disclosing financials is not a big problem provided the n...
