Re: Asking to be released...

I just told my bishop that the calling with work and family were just too much for me.

Re: Time's Up

Kipper, it is a bit too trite to say it sounds like you are going through a hard time. I can relate in many ways. I spent over a decade as a assistant scoutmaster or scoutmaster. I took the call seriously and didn't want to be one of those troops that was just laughable. Not for me, but for the boys...

Re: Petition to end private youth interviews?

I am not so gung ho on stopping all of these. BUT I do want there to be MUCH more explicit guidelines and have those guidelines communicated to parents and the youth. So they know when a bishop is stepping over the line and they can either push back in the interview or report it to their parents. To...

Re: If the theme for the year is keeping the Sabbath day holy, what are we doing wrong?

I would chalk it up to retrenchment and a bit of mistake causation. There are some (most) in leadership that find church attendance and following the rules to a T strengthens them. I don't think some of them really understand others look at it totally different and even "feel" differently. I saw som...

Re: Bargaining - FC 5 Stages of Grief

I would just say that if you are going to try and change the church in order for you to feel good, you are going to be frustrated. I find it more helpful to focus on me changing, which could include no longer attending, rather than changing the church. Sure I will try and move the ball a bit where I...

Re: JS Bible translation

I remember growing up my TBM mother told me we don't use the JS Translation, because the RLDS Church owns it and probably made changes to support their views. What I find interesting, is that JS "corrected" certain bible passages, that were also quoted in the BOM using the original JKV translation....

Re: Young Sheldon

I don't think they are trying to entertain you and I. I think the church could prevent some of this by just coming clean. SouthPark would probably not have created an episode if the LDS church had this out in the open and had JS with a rock in the hat in the church's video. Instead we get President ...

Re: The White Bear Problem

Great that you could find out the bit of caffeine helps you. I almost laughed at, "I know it should not work that way, but I saw it was." I think even psychologists will admit they don't know what will work on someone and they often have to go through a variety of drugs to find the one that works th...

I have GOT to meet him someday and shake his hand (maybe see if I can sneak a hug before his police training kicks in).

Re: New First Presidency of the church

Maybe DFU should contact Denver Snuffer and say, "Hey, I know you don't vant to be the leader of your movement, but I am willing and capable. Lets do it together!" :D
