Re: Letting Go

I too have had that peace after the dark night of the soul. It is a great relief. I am familiar with Fowlers stages of faith and your comment made me ask the question: Have I moved into the fifth stage? I guess time will tell. I have found the stages are not like opening a door, moving into another...

Re: Letting Go

I too have had that peace after the dark night of the soul. It is a great relief. It lasted for a while, then I decided I need to take a different path than you are choosing. Rather than "how do I stay?" my question is, "how do I backout of full activity?" As far as my kids (mine are mostly out of t...

Amen. I feel I have learned what this is saying the last few years. Relationships are what make life worth living.

Re: Ouch - No church internet.

This is what 4G LTE is for. I have excellent cell service in every building in our stake. That said, these aren't the things I'm usually doing on my tablet/phone anyway. If I'm bored or disagreeing with a talk in SM I'm usually on the Gospel Library app or LDS.org (really). I sometimes hit this sit...

Re: I Need Some Advice

IloveChrist, I have always enjoyed your comments on this site. I feel for you in your struggles. I see a very good person trying very hard to just do good. I could give comments such as give yourself some slack and be patient, but I think the best advice I can give you is to see a therapist. I think...

Re: David O McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism

I believe President McKay is the most underrated church leader. Agreed. I think many today would be shocked by (and like) his leadership style. I won't completely diss McConkie though. I think he was trying to give LDS doctrine the kind of rigor and certitude to be found in the Catholic Church. The...

Re: David O McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism

I enjoyed reading the book. I think DOM was probably a really likable guy and a bit of a moderate in comparison to many of those around him. He really did make a big impact on the direction of the church and I generally would say in a positive way. I do wonder if he could even "cut it" in the church...

Re: Thoughts on Being a Dissenter by Jana Reiss

I LOVE Jana's work. She is working on a book that is looking at data from a very professional survey on Mormon millennials that I can't wait to read. She is dropping tidbits of information. But on this article - I have mixed feelings. I do think the less some people stand up and say, "I don't believ...

Re: Do you participate in Symposia ......

I don't know if this was or was not in the TR questions, but I do know that I think it was Oaks actually said some relatively clear words back about 30 years ago in conference saying that Dialog/SunStone was not something a good latter day saint would participate in.
