And just think, that's 48 more hours per year you can work on family history, ministering and/or reading the Book of Mormon. ;)
I don't know about you but for me that would translate into 48 more hours per year complaining that church should be 1 hour. ;)

Re: Two Hour Church -- Rumor or Work in Process?

That would be really cool! That way I'd only have to skip one hour of church each week instead of two! :D Ha! Yeah, why wait for an official announcement? It feels like a repeat of a rumor that resurfaces every few years, this time with a little more credence because of the other changes made durin...

Re: Coping With Previous Sexual History of a Spouse

Side question: Is the whole "licked cupcake" analogy still at thing? As far as I know it has never been introduced in correlated materials (manuals, church magazines, etc.). It was just an analogy that some teachers decided to use while teaching a lesson. Teacher roulette if you will. Some heard si...

Re: Coping With Previous Sexual History of a Spouse

First, I think many consequences of sin are permanent, or at least very long lasting. I think that is by design. Death, disease, unwanted pregnancy are givens in terms of unchangeable consequence. Also, if I am dishonest in my dealings, I can repent and come clean to those I have deceived, but they...

Re: Coping With Previous Sexual History of a Spouse

Disclaimer, I'm not trying to judge, I'm trying to seek understanding. I completely agree with you that it would be terribly wrong for a young person (or anyone for that matter) to be branded as less-suitable in any way because of youthful mistakes. As I said, my feelings have evolved to a point whe...

Re: President Oaks and the Priesthood Restriction

We may or may not have repented but I don't think we learned a thing from the experience. We don't appear to have grow from it. The month of May in my ward could best be described as the month of leader adulation. It was a tough month to endure the 3 hour block. I've been thinking about some of the ...

Re: Meeting with the Branch President

For one, I think we scale the people to the expected programs as opposed to scaling the programs to the people. The solution is often people in smaller units ending up with multiple callings.

Re: When a GA Listens: or, Presiding in the Home

Preface. I do not want to take away from the positive things that happened in the story, I did however want to relate an experience I've had outside the church. An extremely unpopular decision was made at work. The decision had very little upside and lots of downside. Workers complained about the de...

Re: Meeting with the Branch President

There are a few obscure rules surrounding branch presidents and bishops. Functionally they are the same but (and it's been a while, I could be wrong): Branch presidents do not have to be MP holders. I believe this rule can only go into effect when there are no 'worthy' MP holders to fill the role, m...

Re: What does it mean to council?

I have so much to say about this, but the church is so against using the knowledge of learned men, or knowledge from the world, that they won't listen to most of it anyway. So my enthusiasm to contribute such knowledge is waning.... :problem: hmmm...idk... missionaries are using Facebook and handhe...
