Re: What I thought was inspiration probably isn't...

21 And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments. That's a funny scripture. I imagine someone working out their salvation with fear and trembling before the lord. Person: "I'm really worried...

Re: Abusing the Priesthood

My twisted mind immediately went to how some people call men who have been ordained to an office in the Priesthood by the term "the Priesthood", combined with an element of sexual activity for which some members and leaders (and booklet) use a stupid euphemism that includes the word "abuse". In tho...

Re: How can I enjoy staying?

Along with the doubts I really don’t enjoy going to church. I don’t know if I’ve ever enjoyed going to church, it has always been quite dreadful. I honestly don’t know how I can keep pretending that I believe. I used to be able to look past how boring it was because my “salvation” was at stake. lol...

Re: How can I enjoy staying?

I don’t know how to proceed. I have a leadership calling in my ward that I don’t enjoy participating in anymore. I have continued to fulfill my calling because I made a commitment to do so. I have read many times on this forum that it is appropriate to ask to be released from a calling. Has anyone ...

Re: Swearing

We make too much out of it in church. Remember J.Golden Kimball and what he was famous for? That kind of reveals what is so taboo to our culture when you think he was "edgy." Haha. Ya...that's edgy...my a$$. I like mormons that relax a little and laugh with a few swear words for some down to earth ...

Re: LDS Church Responds to Charlottesville White Supremacist Rally

dande48, I'm glad you spoke up. I had an initial devils advocate reaction as well. Similarly, I think of cases where I'd defend against church leaders stepping in to excommunicate someone and a case like this where I may want church leaders to step in and excommunicate someone. My immediate thought ...

Re: Thoughts on D&C 64:10

Wow. Blast from the past. It's interesting to read my thoughts from nearly two years ago. What's missing from my post is the context. That would help things make more sense. I still don't know how to dance around the issue but I'm reminded of Heber13's snake story. The guy that reaches into the fire...

Re: I'm really grateful for you guys!

More on topic  A portion of one talk during SM focused on getting burned out in doing church stuff and the people that experience burnout were compared to the 5 virgins that didn't have enough oil. They burnt out. Get it? Rough. Especially since I think that the people that experience the most...

Re: Equal Access to Blessings of Priesthood

I'm sure you've heard the idea that men are given the priesthood to bring them on equal grounds with women, but that is misandry and so I reject that notion. (I recognize it can be seen as, and often is seen as, misogyny, particularly if you take a "priesthood by default" point of view) An alternat...
