Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

We talk about things that do not relate to my life or help me with life's challenges and we elevate them to the status of new issues I have to deal with. This is kinda the feeling I'm wrestling with as well. My advice to both of you is just let this pass, as I think it will. Not RMN's finest hour b...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

It was a big topic during PH today. I came dangerously close to making a comment but people were loving the news and I didn't want to ruin the spirit of the meeting. I figure we're still riding that wave of excitement of there being a new revelation in town. If this topic spills into subsequent week...

Re: Name of The Church - Version 152

Six months ago in our conference Elder Russell M. Nelson delivered an excellent address on the correct name of the Church. He quoted the words of th...

Re: Nelson's Version of PoX as Revelation in Seminary Manual

If this scenario had happened - let's say much more recently for the purposes of this argument - then I wouldn't be allowed to have my child(ren) baptized. Not because I was gay but because the mother of my child(ren) was. I could be wrong but I believe because of scenarios like the one you describ...

Re: Nelson's Version of PoX as Revelation in Seminary Manual

The policy has also been worked into Preach My Gospel, the missionary bible. See bullet three below. https://www.lds.org/manual/preach-my-gospel-a-guide-to-missionary-service/how-do-i-prepare-people-for-baptism-and-confirmation?lang=eng Do I need permission to baptize a minor child? The Church’s con...

... For some reason, it just didn't sit right with me. It's like they were trying to choose their own nickname. ... It's like that episode of Big Bang Theory. Howard is doing his best to convince the other astronauts to give him the nickname "Rocket Man" but it ends up not working. In that light I ...

Re: My Tentative Conclusion about gospel convos with Traditional Believers

Caffeinated soda and tithing on gross: Maybe there's the hard and soft view of SD's list of hard commitments. I think most members would feel accepted even when they don't abstain from caffeinated soda. After all, it's not a part of the enforced WoW, sodas are a hedge for the members that take thing...

Re: Would you want to be a leader in the celestial kingdom?

Take a bunch of exMission Presidents and Bishops and SP's and reliable people, you need a different leadership model than if you have people you literally have to DRAG to cross the finish line. IMO that's only the case if you assume that the church was the one and only true church and that leaders ...
